Hi all, I've been looking into getting some Emotiva gear lately. Been considering especially the Stealth 8 monitors.
But what I've been wondering: If one considers sound quality alone, what would be the most bang for the bucks audio-wise - the Stealth 8 monitors, or the Airmotiv T1s plus Emotiva's best stereo amplifier, XPA-3?
The Stealth 8 would cost 100 USD more. But what would sound best? My hunch would be that the Stealth 8 would sound etter, given that they avoid the distortion that passive crossovers usually generate. But maybe I'm wrong. Has anybody had a chance to compare directly?

I think pairing the T1 with an XPA-3 would be a pretty bad allocation of funds. Speakers make the biggest difference in how a system sounds, by far, not your $1000 amp.

Stealth 8s are great. The T1 gives more down below, and are very tuneful, and dynamic. I like them because of what it is, and what the T2 is even more. The Stealth 8 for the all in one solution is tops and tough to beat. A win either way. Depends on what you want. Got a powerful amp, T1s. Going from scratch, don't want an amp around, get the Stealth 8. They are a knockout.

I have a hard time believing the T1 has more low end then the Stealth 8. They dig down to 30hz easily in my room and do it with speed and balance. But I have never heard the T1. When the Syealth 8 was 749, which it still is at Hi Fi heaven in Wisconsin it was a great value, at $900 each its more coin for sure, but still a great monitor.

A-150 amp $299 Airmotiv B1 speakers $299 2x BASX S10 subs $598 two cuz why not Maybe? Very solid. I run two BasX S10 subs with the B1 speakers and it's great. Currently paired with a USP-1 and Behringer A500 though for a bit it was a fully Emotiva system with the BasX A300 amp but that was overkill price-wise for the speakers. Nabbed the behringer for $120 and am very happy. |
