Sounds Crazy,
But my XMC-1 is the old 1.4hdmi board and I have a Panasonic UHD BD player. I have one hdmi with the 4K signal going direct from the Panasonic to the 4K panel and one hdmi with just audio going from the Panasonic to the XMC-1.
This is casuing the XMC-1 issues and sometimes (not everytime) as the Panasonic player switches between menu and playing I can hear a "Click" in the XMZ-1 as it shuts down the audio path and triggers my amp to turn off and then thats the end of sound and everything in the hdmi chain needs to be restarted. I sometimes have to restart everything a few times before I can actually watch a movie.
I cant help think that its got to do with the video signal that is coming down the Panasonic "audio" hdmi cable. Even though I have the Panny set to "Audio only" though this cable, the XMC-1 reports that video is indeed present on the OSD.
So I'm wondering if there is anyway to switch off a video input and leave the audio path open for a particular hdmi input on the XMC-1?
Cheers

I have an Oppo UDP-203, and am using dual HDMI out - video to the TV, HDMI audio to the XMC-1. Works perfectly.

I am using an Oppo BDP-103 with HDMI to my XMC-1 (original HDMI 1.4). XMC-1 has one HDMI IN from Cable Box. Additional HDMI cables to: first, Oppo BDP-103 and second, VIZIO HDTV LED 1090p. Monitor.
To date XMC-1,Oppo and HDTV have all performed flawlessly since adding the XMC-1 in 2015. Appears that you may have an issue that needs to be addresses. Suggest that you reach out to Emotiva Technical support, my experience they are extremely knowledgeable as well as helpful. Good luck.

Thank you, Yes Emotiva have already replaced the original hdmi1.4 with a replacement but this issue remains. I have a HTPC with two hdmi cable outs, 1 video to the TV and 1 audio to the XMC-1 and this works fine. Interestingly, when using the HTPC audio out only through hdmi, the XMC-1 reports that video is also present at 1080P/60 on this cable. When using the Panasoinc 4K BD player, the same set up, the audio only hdmi cable to the XMC-1 reports that video is present 1080i/50 for the menu and there is sound, but when I go to play the actual 4k movie, the XMC-1 reports that video has switched to 1080i/60 and then the XMC-1 becomes unresponsive and "Clicks" off the audio section inside the unit. That's why I thought it might have something to do with the video that's also being passed through the "Audio only" hdmi cable.

Hey guys, those with the Oppo with audio only hdmi outputs, can you tell me what video resolution the XMC-1 is reporting on the "Audio Only" hdmi input? Also what are the options on the opp BD player for the audio only hdmi output?

I'm not on my system right now, but if I recall correctly the second HDMI output coonected to my XMC-1 reports audio only, no video. I will check it in the morning.

Not that it helps but my Oppo 203 works fine in this configuration. My only complaint is i dont have OSD for the volume so hopefully we have a new board soon. I would check on the forums at AVS thre is a dedicated thread for the Panny there perhaps someone can help since this seems to be a player issue imho.

My XMC-1 reports 1920 x 1080p/24 RGB 444 8
I do however think that the video information is a default reading as its the same no matter what I'm playing through the "HDMI Audio" output, ie: SACD's, DVD-Audio disc, blu-rays, DVD's & CD's.

The 2nd HDMI out on the Oppo UDP-203 is an "audio" only output.

Thank you, yes I have the Panasonic set to "Audio only" on the 2nd HDMI (FYI if i didn't the panny wouldn't output 4K on the main hdmi channel anyway). But the XMC-1 is still reporting there being a video source on the"Audio only" hdmi channel.. *NB --- I think I have solved this, as I downloaded and installed the latest firmware for the dmp-ub900 v1.73 and this issue now appears to have been resolved! The 2nd "Audio only" Panasonic HDMI is no longer causing the XMC-1 to shut off the internal audio circuitry. Thank you for all your help.

Glad its sorted mate ; your p.m. was a bit of a concern when my pt7030 was hdmi 1.4 as well Its a great firmware 1.73 ;saving me a media player upgrade with its HEVC h265 file playback as well as separate 10/12bit colour space colour space to match your display ..

Just for those curious, I believe the reason you still see a video signal on an "audio only" output is because HDMI cannot transmit audio alone, it must "ride along" a video signal.

Nobody told that to my multi-channel SACDs. Maybe they told them and they weren't listening . But, you can Google search it and I believe I'm correct -- quite a few searches have said as much. It may be a just a blank screen, but I believe there must be a video signal present.

The HDMI standard considers the HDMI signal to be "a video signal with audio information embedded in it." You cannot have "just audio". When you have "an audio-only HDMI output" it is really a blank video output with embedded audio.
We have run into one interesting situation which may have bearing on what you're experiencing here...... A certain customer had his Oppo player connected to his XMC-1 for audio and his TV for video (with the Oppo set to "dual outputs"). He experienced audio dropouts, even when playing ordinary audio CDs - but only when his TV was off.
As it turned out (according to Oppo), when his TV was off, its HDMI input "still signaled that it was on". As a result, when the TV was off, the video HDMI output on the Oppo would repeatedly try to negotiate HDCP with the TV - and fail. And, each time the negotiation recycled, the Oppo would experience a dropout in its audio output.... EVEN IF IT WAS PLAYING AN AUDIO ONLY CD. (This happened both with an older model Oppo and with a new Oppo.
Details aside, this illustrates how what's connected to the "video output" can cause dropouts and other issues on the "audio only output".....
