Not sure what's going on, but I can't update my XMC. I tried going through my Mac, then my Win10 PC. Both ways show "No Update File" once plugged into the XMC. In the .zip file on EMOs site I see two .pdf's and one .dat file.

Do not format it on your Mac unless you specifically follow the instructions found on the XMC-1 product page. The USB drive must be clean (no other files on it) and correctly formatted. Next, download the firmware update package from the XMC-1 product page, unzip it and copy the ".dat" file to the top level of the USB drive. The XMC-1 will only search the root level of the drive, so be sure not enclose it within a folder. Insert the USB drive into the front of the XMC-1 and try again...

I'll have to try another geek stick

...Three sticks later it worked. Seems it liked my ancient geek stick better Sometimes that's just the way it goes... FWIW.. For newer USB thumb drives that give you issues like this, try a "low level" format (rather than a "quick" format) on a PC. A low level format will erase and replace the boot directory which is often the cause of the issues with USB firmware loaders like that which is found within the XMC-1 and MC-700. My LG OLED TV is finicky with USB sticks as well when used for firmware updates.

Can’t be sure, but I think the issue the previous poster was having was that the stick was over 32GB. If it is, it can’t be formatted with FAT32 through windows, you’ll get an error, it gets formatted with exFAT.
You can get a 3rd party program to format >32gb to FAT32, but it’s easiet to just use a smaller capacity thumb drive.

Thanks! I was looking for a "Resources" tab on the general product page. My spouse figured out that I needed to go to the resources tab on the product page for the XMC-1, as you said.

Definitely lost in the website reorg. I hope they fix it - no way anybody would ever look in a blog for firmware.

Links in the blog post won't work for me. They don't work for me either. I get the 'Please insert the last disk of the multi volume set error'. I have tried this on 3 different laptops. Doesn't work any of them. I'd like to upgrade this firmware. The unit I bought is on firmware 1.3.

Because the link didn't work for me either when I just tried it, I just sent you a copy of the latest XMC-1 firmware, version 4.1 to your e-mail account listed in your profile so you don't have to wait until the Emotiva offices open on Monday...................LCSeminole Make sure you read the PDF file instructions and follow them so you don't brick your XMC-1.

I have the 4.1 firmware data file because I downloaded it 4 months ago to reinstall the firmware in my XMC-1 but I can't post it here because it is 11.5MB. Those interested, send me a PM with your email and I can send it to you and install it at your own risk The name of the file I have is XMCupdate2017_05_04.dat
