Last weekend an appliance store was selling a few different basx amps on eBay for a very good price. What had been a "maybe someday" purchase of an A300 Basx Amp, suddenly became a, now or maybe not ever purchase, so I clicked the BIN button. It arrived this afternoon, from Michigan to Calif in less than a week. The box was broken on one side, and the protective foam cracked on one edge. UPS sure can be rough! I had enough time before heading to work to plug in the AC cord and power it up. The red lights flashed in back and the amber standby light appeared when I pressed the front power button. That's as far as I could get before heading out to work. This will be replacing my Mini X A-100 that croaked a few weeks ago, as well as my old Adcom 535. I'm using Pioneer BS22's currently, but I'm wondering if I'll feel the need to upgrade with the new amp. They'll probably be fine for a while and the a300 will just be a bit overkill. I have my eye on the pt 100 preamp, but for now I'll be using a Schiit sys 13 passive and Modi Uber Dac connected to my pc. I am looking forward to Monday when my work week ends so I can start playing... The biggest dilemma I face at the moment is where to put that new large amp!

I got home from work about 40 minutes ago and went straight to work, er, play!
Everything seems to to be working just fine. I believe I'm going to enjoy this amp immensely. I still need to find a good spot for it!
Yes - Fragile, flac from vinyl gets to have the spin, or stream. My wife is sleeping so I must resist the urge to crank up the volume.
Unfortunately it has some minor scuffing on the front plate, thankfully just minor. For what I paid, I cannot complain at all.

Congratulations on your new BASX a300 amplifier. Some of the most fun buys happen unexpectedly. Enjoy your new a300, and please let us know how you get along. Yeah the monkeys at UPS can be rough with your goods. To be fair, so can FedEx and DHL too. I wonder how they would like it if their own associate did that their goods they were buying. It all has a way of getting around you know.

This really is an issue! I don't want to leave it where it's perching at this moment! I suppose the delivery companies must get the same treatment eventually. It's gotta come back around, doesn't it? The funny thing about this purchase was that the night before (just last Saturday) I saw an auction for a nearly new Fusion A-100. $160 shipped. That was the perfect replacement for my Mini-X A-100 that lost a channel when I touched the volume knob with a static charged hand. I bought it that night and then saw the auction for the A-300 on Sunday! I hemmed and hawed on buying that one for about 20 minutes, and then during break I "accidentally" finalized my Paypal send. I really had not realized that I had just bought it. I checked the auction page and it said, sorry, you missed out on this item. Then I checked my email and realized I had actually bought it. Whew! What a relief.

I do envy her for sure! She can say "sleep" and be out before her head hits the pillow.

As I mentioned before, the amp needed a good place to sit better than my desk and shelf! I was considering attempting to build something, then a day later this appeared on Facebook for sale for $25! I drove an hour to go pick it up last week. Money well spent. Almost everything on the rack was crowding my desk and I could barely move my computer mouse! Much better now! Attachment Deleted
