Well I've overcome most of the limitations of iTunes by overlaying it with BitPerfect. But can't get around the Apple TV stream limit of 44.1 (and I hate that it even resamples that to 48.) So I've been emailing with May Park at SOtM and decided to throw the switch and purchased an sMS-200 network bridge and one year of ROON. I also considered the mBPS-d2s linear power supply from SOtM but it is being replaced with the sPS-500 so I was hesitant there. In the end, after much agonizing, I purchased the UltraCap LPS-1 linear power supply from UpTone Audio. And a Wireworld Starlight 7 USB cable to make nice with the USB input of my XMC-1. All three items should be here by Monday. Listening via Roon now as the license was emailed to me as soon as I placed my order with SOtM. I'm excited. Russ

I HATED spending the money on Roon but, after six months, it just seems so superior to other options.
I had to be patient as it was certainly a change after 15 years using iTunes but it all made sense.

I think at least for me iTunes was the place because for a long time there was no other place. Options abound now, and iTunes is behind in scope, and quality of content.I am keeping my ears, and eyes open for options that will work for me. This option intrigues me.

audiosyndrome - welcome to the Roon club. I'm betting you'll never go back. Personally, I've grown weary of the AppleTV. I bought a 4th gen and returned it because of the crappy way it handles audio. I have 3 Gen 3's - neither of which I've used in ages. For streaming, I much prefer Roku. Back to Roon - Give the Raspberry Pi a shot. It's fun, and it works wonderfully.

The Sotm product is supposedly excellent. You have just upgraded like 3,000%. Enjoy

My primary reason for getting Roon is for it to be used as a server on my mini. Keith indicated a while back, in response to my asking, that the "XMC-1 will never be DLNA / UPnP compatible". The SOtM sMS-200 is a Roon endpoint that will automatically be recognized by Roon. I believe going forward that Roon and Roon endpoints will become a defacto standard. Just look at all the manufacturers jumping on the Roon Partners bandwagon. Perhaps the RMC-1 or the next generation of the XMC-1 will be a Roon endpoint. Keith? Lonnie? Dan? Russ

I use Roon with my XMC-1 thru the use of a USB cable from my PC to the XMC-1. Works great.
