I purchased a CMX-2 a while ago (not sure why) and its sat in the box since. After plugging my newly rebuilt and modded out Yankee Rose copper plated ST-70 I loved how sweet and full she sounds. I normally don't push her peaks past 85db. Lower listening volumes. During quiet passages I could hear a mechanical "hum" from the transformers. It was just enough to be subtly annoying.
On a whim I pulled the CMX-2 out of the box and plugged the vintage Dynaco dinosaur into it. Hum/buzz from transformer disappeared instantly. I don't know if I will ever have another use for this product but just want everybody to know she worked like a charm!
