What would be the correct way to connect a USP-1 and a XDA-1? Only plan to use the digital in on the XDA. Will the remotes interfere with each other?, eg-using the USP remote to turn up system volume...will i have to do something to prevent the volume on the XDA to increase also?

No interference,.. just hpok them, up and keep the xda-1 volume on 80. use usp-1 to control volume.

Well the technically correct way would be to put the XDA-1 at 80. Then use the USP-1 remote to control things. The two remotes don't affect each other I don't think. However I found myself putting the USP-1 to the loudest volume I normally tolerate and then using the XDA-1 between 60 and 80 to control the volume. This is because the USP-1 remote volume adjustment makes changes in very large quantities so you may find yourself finding it too loud after like three clicks. The XDA-1 is a lot more sensitive on its remote so I was able to make better changes. The XDA-1 has a lossy volume control which is digital which means it loses resolution as things go down in volume. 80 bypasses the volume control. So technically you would want to use the USP-1 to control volume. But just saying how it ended up in practise.
P.S.: The DC-1 direct to the amps is better than your current combo.

I just got my USP-1 and have a Schiit Modi 2 Uber DAC. Looking for a used XDA-1 or 2 at a bargain price if i can find one. The Modi only has 2 digital inputs and the XDA has 4 and i need 3. I suppose i could buy another Modi but like the idea of a cosmetic matching piece for the USP-1 (plus its 4 digital ins...) Well the technically correct way would be to put the XDA-1 at 80. Ended up getting a XSP-1, Gen 1. The TT , cassette deck and another analog source will go directly to the XSP with my BD and a DVD changer that i use mainly for long, uninterrupted CD playing going into the XDA-1 Now to decide how to utilize those together...
