Is there a generic USB Bluetooth adapter that can be substituted for the Emotiva BTM-1, for use with the TA-100?
I have 2 such adapters that work fine with my desktop computers, but don’t work with the Emotiva TA-100. I would expect any modern embedded Linux running on the Emotiva device could easily support a non-proprietary Bluetooth aptX adapter.

Don't know. I spent the $49 bucks for the Emo BTM-1 to use with my TA 100. It works fine

Educated guess: So the TA-100 has internal code which recognizes and uses the btm-1. The btm-1 is made with a particular bluetooth chipset and ancillary chips. Possibly if you found a generic bt adapter that had the same exact chipset, possibly it would work.
I guess you could buy a bunch of adapters using different chipsets to find one that works. I wouldn't waste my time this way.

I wouldn't waste my time this way. No guessing. I figure someone with the BTM-1 may have plugged it into their desktop already and read the chipset information from the Device Manager applet (on Windows).
