A very interesting read from Mark Henninger over at AVS. For some time many have wondered if/how ATMOS would be applicable to stereo music listening. Mark makes a very interesting case for its' use and how the experience/sound relates to real world live venues. In the article ATMOS enabled speakers are used to assemble a 2.2.2 system for music and the results seem quite promising. Maybe something others can try out with their gear if so inclined and report back here as to their thoughts. Nice added bonus for those with that kind of setup.
