I saw these on a show last nite called made by destruction. The recovered wood from an old building made from Heartpine which is aparently an old growth wood that is very hard. They cut the wood beams down into blocks and then hollow it out with CNC routers. The show was really interesting, it wood < (pun) be fun to give them a listen.
