I recently bought a A-100 not only for its alleged sound quality, but for the auto sense feature. It's connected to my Squeezebox, which plays for about 30 minutes every night to put me to sleep, and I wanted something that wouldn't draw non-standby power all night after the music shuts off.
The problem I'm having is that in auto sense mode it's not shutting off with the Squeezebox connected to the analog inputs on the amp. With nothing connected to the amp, auto sense does work, and the amp light goes from blue to amber after a few minutes. But with the Squeezebox connected either directly via its analog outs, OR connected via an external DAC, the amp stays on (blue) all night.
Because the problem exists both from the Squeezebox and from the DAC, I'm thinking it must be a power line issue? If I crank the volume knob on the amp to max, I can hear a faint high frequency hiss through the speakers if I put my ear right up to the tweeter. If I put a multimeter on the L or R RCA cables with no source signal, I measure about 30mV max (though it fluctuates).
What is the auto sense voltage sensitivity? It's not listed in the specs. Do you think this is indeed a power line issue? Would something like a CMX-2 fix it?
Thanks for the help!

Maybe the squeezebox is sending a signal 24/7? Does the SB have auto off or sleep feature? Can you test with another device (i.e. CD player)?

Did you get this figured out. Only thing I can tell you is that the switch you move has THREE positions not two

I finally solved this last night, thanks to the Squeezebox community. Turns out that by default the SB doesn't disable its audio output when it goes into standby. However, there's a somewhat hidden setting that disables the audio outputs when in standby, and enabling that solves the problem. The A-100's auto sense feature now works perfectly! I'm quite happy that I didn't decide to return the amp!
