Seems like a little trouble with my XPA-5 gen 2. my amp intermittently goes into protection mode. Called Emotiva support and they suggested I take the lid off and blow out the dust/dirt. Was told sometimes this happens. So im rebuilding my system I decided to check out the amp. This is what I found, what do y'all think? I dont know a thing about engineering, Im assuming the tall round black turds are capacitors? Then theres two little "rabbit turds" that are at the base of them. Don't know what to call them either but the look rusty and brown like the top of two of the "capacitors " please tell me what you think and what those parts are called. Sure looks like the amp is homeward bound! Dang! 😢

Nick, did you buy the amp brand new? I cannot imagine the electronics being bad to the point of rust in only a couple of years.

Chinese parts and production on the Gen 1 were better...looks like two capacitors are leaking, which usually happens about thirty years after production.

Yes, that orange stuff is electrolyte. Should not be happening at this age of the component... get that thing into the Emotiva emergency room pronto.

I have company coming Monday to visit and enjoy my HT 😮 I guess I shouldn't wait for a meltdown. Just box it up! Damn! Two subs forward one one amp back! Something is VERY wrong with that!

Thanks so much, I'll take it that everyone agrees? Indeed! Is your home very humid? The 'rabbit turds', i think, are resistors.

My father has trouble breathing and requires cold air all year long as well as dehumidifier for years now. Thanks for the info, resistors? I thought that they were the girls I asked out years ago!

I am sure they will just swap out your defective gen 2 for a spanking new gen 3. After all you have talked a thousand people into buying their gear.
