I am confused on this subject. I just purchased a XPA-5 Gen 2 and I have never owned an amp.
I have used interconnects for other audio and video equipment.
When I look at the interconnects with RCA plugs almost all have a red and black and come is a pair (separated) which is confusing since the amp only takes a single line connection from pre-amp to amp.
Since they come in pairs can you use each for a single channel? The confusing part is one color represents a right channel and the other a left>
I need between a 3-4 ft for 3 channels due to positioning of the pre-amp and amp.

The colors are only for ease of use. The cables are the same. Ignore the colors as they are technically meaningless.

As was said the colors are just to make keeping track of things easier. Red is the common color for Right, Left is most often Black or White but not always, some manufacturers use Blue, so the Left side varies a bit. Some cables designed for multi channel use have different colors for every channel. It varies by maker and preferences.
With your XPA-5 I'd recommend using Red for the Right front and the Right surround and use Black or whatever your paired color is for the Left front and Left surround. For the center use either color or if you have a third color you can use that since it is neither Right or Left. This just makes things easier to identify is all.

Thank you to both of you. I had a feeling that was the case. The funny part is I have made my own speaker cables and yet surfing on this subject (interconnects) had me confused lol.......
