The conversation has come up a few times regarding running the XPS-1 on battery power for improved sound, which is exactly what I've been doing recently since upgrading my cartridge from a MI, the VPI Zephyr to the MIMC Star Zephyr both made by Sound Smith. At least in my system I feel there is an improvement, not jaw dropping by any means, but a little bit smoother and more refined using battery with the XPS-1.
However the battery I have is no longer made, but just this morning in photo forum I'm involved in I learned of the battery linked below so thought I would share this with the folks who use this phono stage if they are curious enough to give it a try. Best of luck if you do, and as always your results might be different than mine.

In the meantime I am auditioning the Vision Q Phono Stage from Van Alstine audio, which received product of the year in TAS for 2016, and is a rather unique design for a phono preamp in many ways. However I still prefer my Tubes4HiFi PH16 that I built over a year ago to either of these components, at least so far. I don't subscribe to the concept of component break in other than transducers and maybe tubes but the Vision Q has not been running for over 24 hours. Thus far I've not noticed much if any change in its performance related to sound.
Eventually I will gravitate toward SUT's for my PH16 for the needed additional gain, just haven't decided which of the many ways to tackle this, and some of the solutions are quite expensive, others relatively modest in cost.
Hope this is helpful.
