I have found a pair of used speakers that I can afford. One concern is the pet bed behind the speaker in the pictures. Smaller bed, looks like the size my wife had for her 25 lb cat when we met.
My daughter and I are very allergic to cats and dogs.
What are the chances that these speakers reek of either and cause us problems? I'd have to buy the speakers on eBay before I could inspect them. Don't know how long the speakers have been in the environment, but they have only been available for about 2 years (the speaker version that is).
Stay away or probably ok?

They will probably have some animal hair stuck to them someplace. If you are allergic you might want to pass on this one.

How large are the speakers? I'm thinking the allergens would only be on grill cloths; hard surfaces shouldn't be an issue.
If they are Def Tech, Golden Ear, Vandersteen etc with full length socks, you may want to pass.
I have severe allergies but cats and dogs are on the small list of allergens to which I'm not allergic (thank god since I volunteer at an animal shelter).

Just pop VAN HALEN on for 10 minutes full tilt and they'll be clean as a WHISTLE👍 Bill

Pet hair gets everywhere and cats love to rub on things to mark territory but I doubt anything is soaked in.Unless the design is such that there are nooks and crannies that could not be reached I suspect that a good vacuuming of grills and wipe down of hard surfaces would eliminate possible issues. How bad are the allergies? Could you get through a cleaning if you had to?

If you are that alergic then why take the chance? The monetary savings buying used vs new is why. We are talking uncomfortable sneezing allergy not epi pen go to the hospital allergy.

Pet Dander...I'd be more worried if the cat ever peed on the speakers...that odor is like SKUNK...it never leaves!

My inclination was to not buy them. I was hoping that everyone would like, you are nuts. They are speakers and if they haven't been there for decades they are fine.
Pet allergies stink.
