Today my XSP Gen 1 would not turn on so I pulled my RSP-2 out of storage. I purchased it years ago along with an RPA-2 amp. After playing my first CD I came to realize how it blew the XSP out of the water. I know the XSP is first generation, but I never realized how truly great the RSP-2 is. It has a solid center image and height to music (something the XSP didn’t have); power, dynamics and bass are a magnitude better. Bass is presented as defined notes. Above all music has copious amounts of feeling, something the XPS lacked. The goosebumply feeling on powerful, soaring passages or the ethereal on the final sustained note of a violin as it fades away. You can feel the violinist fingers as each note is played. My system is an RSP-2, RPA-2, ERC-3 and Salk Heils (thanks Jim for the tremendous job you and Dennis did on these). They never sounded so good. I will get the XSP fixed but I am keeping the RSP-2 from now on. Emotiva produced some truly outstanding electronics with the RSP and RPA. Too bad they are retired.

Alas - no bass management.

In the end it is overall sound quality over bells and whistles. The unit is just superior; which is all that matters to me.
