I just got a BasX TA-100 that Im using in a small 2.1 system. Im using a pair of Klipsch R-15m and a Klipsch R-10SW. Is it normal to have to turn the volume up to 30-40 to get any significant sound out of this reciever? I thought the Klipsch were supposed to be a pretty efficient speaker now Im not so sure. I was driving these with an old Pioneer sx-850 and had plenty of volume at 1/3 on the dial. It seems like Im constantly increasing volume to get where I want to be and dont want to damage the amp. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? sorry for the noob question

The volume controls on the Pioneer and BasX may be calibrated differently (i.e. logarithmic vs. linear) so don't worry. There is no "normal". Wind up the volume on the TA-100 until you're satisfied, I doubt you'll damage the amp. Too little power can damage the speakers however but I don't think you have any concerns in that regard with the Klipsches. Oh, and finally, there are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers!

I have a PT-100 and have to keep the volume around 45 with my Airmitiv 5s's and I've had it to over 50. Mine tops out at 80. If yours is the same I wouldn't worry about 30 ~ 40. You can't compare volume control position between different makes and models.

Similar to Vneal here, TA-100 with Monitor Audio Bronze 2 (90db sensitivity), usually between 40-45, and 50 is rather loud.
