Looks like Emotiva is 'creeping' into my area. I recently sold my Onkyo 8050 receiver to a local guy via Craig's List. He asked me to recommend a turntable and speakers. He was immediately impressed with the 8050/song tower combo I had hastily set up so he could hear that the Onkyo was working as advertised. After checking out the price for Song Towers I think he decided less was better. Another of my recommendations was for the T1/T2s from Emotiva, along with a few turntable recommendations - one of which was a Music Hall. He ended up with the MH 2.3. He sent me a pic of his living room with the T1's he bought from Emotiva - see below. I'll be going over to take a listen sometime this weekend. And I'll have him pull those speakers away from the back wall for better bass response. He doesn't have a sub and no plans to get one. Looks like Emotiva has another happy customer.

Pulling the speakers out from the wall USUALLY helps with imaging and less boomy bass. Not louder bass

Looks great, just one comment ,,,,,,, less books and MORE LP's 😋

Looks great, just one comment ,,,,,,, less books and MORE LP's 😋 Check your eyes Nick! Those ARE LPs. Mostly classical. Bach and much more, like 3-5 and more LPs in a set. No books in that cabinet.

OK - so I got the chance to take a listen to the setup with Gary, the happy owner earlier today. Speakers are the T1 towers - smaller than I had expected at ~38" high. I think I'd put them on a 6-8" stand since the tweeters are below ear level when sitting. Gary mentioned he had read some suggestions that the spikes be adjusted to tilt the speaker back a few degrees.
I had already heard the Onkyo TX-8050 with my song towers and was impressed with how good it sounded. The Onkyo is a fine sounding receiver and the T1's prove that out, as did the song tower/Onkyo combination. The Music Hall 2.3 is brand new & bone stock with a very nice sound to it. Music Hall is the Emotiva of the turntable world. We listened to some Sarah Vaughan and other jazz cuts from some early 50's. Xylophone! too! Who does jazz with a xylophone these days? And I love the sound, which is why I love Jazz At The Pawn Shop. The speakers were pulled out to about 1' clearance behind them and the bass is very good - articulate - and maybe a bit overemphasized. I don't know if all the T1's are this way or it's the interaction with the room, or maybe the crossovers. Mid range was a bit laid back but still had good presence. The crossovers sounded seamless to my ears.
The T1's aesthetics are better in person than in pics. I'd like to see these in a different wood finish but I understand that complicates manufacturing and increases costs. I guess I'm spoiled with the looks of my song towers. Gary keeps the grills off but did put one on so I could get a good look at the fit. Perfect! They fit the contours of the speaker very nicely.
Listening experience? I like the sound. The tweeter was no surprise to me since I've had Airmotiv 6's and most recently the AM4 that my daughter has now. The speaker reproduces the entire sound spectrum (within my hearing ability) very nicely. Piano sounded like a piano - decay was very well reproduced. This is a speaker I could live with if someone stole my song towers. But being the way I am I'd probably order the T2's. The T1's are very nice speakers IMO but bigger is better, no? For a modest setup I was honestly quite surprised. Total price was about $1200.

And they're not too much more coin than the T1s.
