Any updates on the progress of the Emersa EMP-1 surround preamp. I'm holding off purchasing the Marantz NR1608 for EMP-1.

Not anytime soon. After RMC-1, with no specified timeframe.

Yep - see the Emofest report in the green room...when they decided to Atmos it, it took a back seat to the RMC-1 and XMC upgrade and launching the BasX line.

Any updates on the progress of the Emersa EMP-1 surround preamp. I'm holding off purchasing the Marantz NR1608 for EMP-1. Price will go up as well from what I have heard as it will have Atmos capability, if 4k and Atmos is not a deal breaker I see used XMC-1`s selling for $1200 and the EMP-1 was originally projected at $899 so not too much difference in price, and the XMC-1 and Dirac is really great. The XMC-1 is great. But my ceiling is pre-wired for a 5.1.2 Atmos setup. I have no room or want 6,7,8 etc set of speakers in my living room. The EMP-1 would be a perfect match with the "home theater bypass" feature of my USP-1. Compliment my XPA-2 with an A-500 multi amp for the center and all the surrounds then I'll be set. I guess patients is a virtue we must have to be fans of Emotiva

I guess patients is a virtue we must have to be fans of Emotiva I haven't ruled out an XMC-1 for my 5.1.2 set up, mostly due to indeterminate timing. It seems to me that the order is going to be RMC-1 first, then XMC-1, then EMP-1 and finally a UMC-200/MC-700 sized processor (most likely an EMP-1 in a different/traditional Emotiva box). I'm already compromising (cabling and switching) on 4K from the Oppo 203 and from Friday an AppleTV4K will be added to that. It's well and truly processor upgrade time, as well as the 4K done I also have 2 channels of the XPA-5 spare ready and waiting for the ceiling speakers. Maybe I could buy an EMP-1 and stick it in a UMC-200 case........... Cheers Gary

I wouldn't hold off - get something Atmos to tide you over and work out the kinks in your setup until then. Then re-evaluate when it's out or whatever options are available.

I guess patients is a virtue we must have to be fans of Emotiva I would be 2nd guessing myself if I chose a lesser pre pro without dirac for the sake of a few months poncho ; and it can still be custom to your 5.1.2 requirements ;from Marks notes ; And if circumstances change; like a bigger room; the modular XMC1 can adapt ..The XMC1 2CH dual differential passthrough performance is something to ponder in connection with needing the usp1 possibly too ??
