Hi everyone.. I'm analizing the possiblilty of buying a CD-100. I currently own a TA-100, and wanted to know how things stand between the DACs of those two, and which should be the best way to hook it up, meaning, just RCAs analog output to the CD in of the TA-100 or a coax and use the CD-100 as a transport to the AD1955 DAC in the TA-100. Also.. if you know if there is a buffer in the AD1955 to reduce jitter. I currenly use a cheap Sony DVD with coax.. and I must say I'm happy.. and if there is a nice buffer where reclocking can be done.. , I don't see much of a difference between the cheap sony or any other transport..
PLs.. if you guys can enlighten me with your knowledge on this matter I will appreciate it! Thanks everyone!

I have both, and I can't tell any difference either way you use, both use a nice, although different DAC.
I doubt you'd be able to tell a difference.
Welcome to the Forum. Nick, pls poor him some cool aid. !

I think you should stick with what you got Thanks, you mean, stick with my cheap sony dvd ? don't get me wrong, that was my opinion ... Since I come from IT, I don't think 0-1 are any different from any player. Then there is the jitter issue.. I don't seem to get it.. I would assume that a nice buffer, would solve it.. and I would think the DAC in fact does eliminate it.... but there are SO many pages indicating the different sound of transports.. that makes me think.... I might be wrong.. .Anyway.. t still ... it's kind of hard for me to think this hasn't been adressed.. a music CD is not THAT much information, just 700mb of data transfered in aprox 1 hour.. That seems quite slow, and plenty of time for resending , reclocking and everything before any sound is played, with absolute accuracy. Thanks!!

I doubt you'd hear much of a difference with jitter in your setup. I've used cheap DVD players as transports and not heard an difference. I have heard differences in DACs but transports - if there is a difference, it's much smaller. It's not really the size of the file. The thing with jitter is that the digital transmission is happening live. So your dac downstream doesn't store the entire file. It plays back what it gets live at that moment. So jitter can happen. But jitter is very hard to hear unless in ungodly amounts. I've heard DACs with those new FEMTO clocks and honestly didn't think it was worth the hype. At the entry level or the mid range level, the transport is absolutely the last thing I would worry about. I've heard the PT-100 (which is ver similar to your TA-100) and it has a pretty good DAC imo. In your system, imo, it's the best performing part of it. It's better than the XDA-2 and XDA-1 which Emotiva used to sell. It's close to but not quite the sound of the DC-1.
