Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone else gets the "no disc" display when a new CD is loaded into the ERC-3. (after a few tries it finally works) I also get audio drop outs which now occur on at least 8-10 of my my CDs. I did bring up the audio drop outs with Emotiva, and even sent them out my ERC-3 from Canada. They got the same result, with, unfortunately no fix.
The ERC-3 is a great sounding player, but I am now wondering about an Oppo replacement. I love Emotiva products but I have very bad luck with faulty components - for instance my ERC-1 no longer works and there is no support on this outdated product.
Thx Howie

Obviously I have a lot of Emotiva gear (check signature) and the one thing that stands out for me is how reliable they all are. Which is kinda important since sending something back from Australia for service is not exactly economic.
My ERC-3 works perfectly, so what you are experiencing is not typical based on my experience. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you have posted but it is most unusual for Emotiva to check out a product, find a problem, not fix it and then simply send it back. A replacement (new) is what I would expect. Actually demand, I'd be on the phone asking for a new replacement right now.
By way of an Oppo comparison, I don't like the sound from the implementation in the 95/105/205 of the Sabre DAC's they are just not my style. I have directly compered my ERC-3 to an 93, 103 and most recently 203 and I much prefer the sound from the ERC-3. The 93 and 103 were compered to the ERC-3 using a USP-1 and an XPA-5 and the 103 and 203 via an XSP-1 and a pair of XPA-1L's (plus sub woofer in all cases of course).
Cheers Gary

Miata, not understanding this post. Are you saying that you sent the ERC-3 back to Emotiva and they tested it, found it to be faulty and still sent it back to you without a fix? Sounds almost too dumb to be real.
I own two ERC-3's and four ERC-2's and other than an ERC-2 that ended up with a cracked motor spindle, I immediately sent it back after the repair which Emotiva paid me to return. They found that the spindle motor table was also cracked. Since the repair it has been working like a champ.
I would think that the ERC-3 is still under warranty unless you have some oddball circumstances. Emotiva should be taking care of you, it's what they do. Their customer service is pretty stellar.

Thank you Gary for your informative reply. Emotiva did try my discs in other ERC-3s but the same thing happened. One would think it was my discs at fault but they played flawlessly on other CD players, so there was not much they could do apart from offering a refund - fair enough, but I decided to keep my ERC-3. BTW, thanks for the info regarding Oppo.
I was just curious if anyone else experienced the same problems.
Cheers Howie
