So I just installed Foobar and am using it on my Windows laptop listening through the Big Ego DAC. I installed the drivers from Emotiva.
I'm impressed with the program's flexibility and customizability. Also the Dolby Headphone Wrapper works really well for 5.1 Dolby tracks through headphones. It's really surprising how the sense of 5.1 channels is perceived through just the headphones.
Heck, even mp3s sound better through the Big Ego.
Now, for those that have more experience with Foobar, I'm using WASAPI (Event) (Emotiva Big Ego) as output. Should I be using WASAPI (Push) instead?
What are some of the other useful components y'all are using?

Push vs event has to do with one of them using the DAC for clocking and the other using the source for clocking. I haven't noticed a difference between the two that was significant. I use foobar as well primarily because it is darn simple in UI and loads super quickly.
It also doesn't give you the occassional stutters that Media Monkey did in WASAPI mode. It just did its thing and got out of the way. I also didn't feel it was impacting the audio in any significant way.
I imagine there are lots of features that I haven't bee using that may be useful. I just don't know what they are. The one that I use the most is the search function.

In it is mentioned that the Emo drivers support Push Mode. emotiva.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Configuring_WASAPI_Mode_in_Audio_Players.pdf

With my XDA-2 connected, my output device shows as SPDIF Interface (USB2.0 High Speed True HD Audio) in either PUSH or EVENT mode.
I found that the music would very frequently drop out with an error message from Foobar. The best fix I found was to set the Buffer Length to max. That has really improved the error frequency, but it still does it occasionally, seemingly related to the PC using other resources, such as an email arriving in MS Outlook. So for me, not perfect but livable. And I suspect the issue lies somewhere in my PC setup...
