I appreciate any help in advance:
I have the Beolab 5s, which have a frequency range of 20-20,000hz. I am trying to edit the preset speaker setting for speaker 1 to allow the XMC-1 to drive the full range of frequencies, but in the settings, I can't get lower than 40, or higher than 10,000. I don't use a subwoofer since the BL5s basically have subwoofers built in, and have that setting off.
I assume I should have enhanced bass enabled? Should I leave subwoofer as none?
I don't use Dirac or any PEQ settings for now, I just want to make sure the speakers are getting the full frequency range first. After that, I plan to just stick with no room correction until I make up my mind on buying the RMC-1.

Just set the speakers to "large" - done.

You’ve got Beolabs.....
Could you do me a favor and just leave the door unlocked on your way to work. Thanks 🙏

Hah...they're not Yamaha/sony big box retailer speaker cheap, but they're no longer 40k for a pair.
And yes, they're set to large. It feels as if I'm missing some bass, though. I guess the only way to tell is to get a room analyzer and see if the speakers are outputting in the 20hz range. Thanks,

Thanks, If I were you, I would kick this around with Technical Support (Emo.) and double check your configuration settings with them. I'm sure nothings wrong, but it is unusual to have full range speakers that reach that far down......the high frequencies are astounding with those, for sure. Bill

I’ve been so content with my own EQ settings on the XMC, that I needed to go back into the menu, in order to offer up a suggestion, if you want to try.....
In speaker 1 configuration (setup) I’ve gone into “System EQ and kicked bass level to 1.0 dB, and that becomes a persistent setting for the bass.

Thank you for the tips. I ended up contacting support and they told me that apparently, all I need to do is set the speakers to large, and keep subwoofer off (so no enhanced bass).
I’m going to go into the equalizer settings and try changing base to 1db.

Which is exactly what I told you in my first post in this thread...

It’s true. When a man (or woman) is right, you gotta give them credit.
I’ll be honest though, the lack of news on the 4k update is driving me crazy. One can get a Krell Foundation 4k at a very reasonable price on the used market. I hate to give up on the XMC-1, but this is getting frustrating.

cwt is correct, the Krell Foundation 4K is only HDMI 2.0, and from I understand won't be getting anymore upgrades according to owners in this processors thread on AVS.

Yep. I’ve seen the same.
I’m now looking at a bryston SP3. I can get a used one at a reasonable price and combine that with their 4k board.
Or I can wait until 1Q18 and get the XMC-1 upgrade. Maybe.
To be honest, I may just boot the surround processor from my system and stick with a good quality stereo DAC. Keeping up with the latest HDMI standard is proving to be a giant PITA and creates moving goalposts.

I understand your pain. It is now over a year past the initial date for which Emotiva announced the second HDMI upgrade board... Looks like this might be out of date already when it finally is available.

Interesting..... I remember when the Krell Foundation was going for $6000 - and the discounted price on the 4k upgrade for it was $1000 . (I think the 4k one was going for $7200.) Of course, at more than twice the price of the XMC-1, with less features...... maybe you gotta wonder why you can get one at a reasonable price so soon It’s true. Well, you can also get a used XMC-1 for a reasonable (meaning about half of the original) price on the used market nowadays. Maybe you gotta wonder why is that.... HDMI? Hint, hint...

The entire sound processor market is getting hammered...it's really interesting. I've seen significantly discounted *thetas*, you can get used Lyngdorf MP50s for less than 8k, Krell Foundation 4ks for less than their name. I think part of it is due to fantastic selection and options for surround processors, and the beginning of a new rotation of products. Another part might be the surge of new DACs, including multichannel ones, which are able to replace the *sound* processing of the A/V surround processor, give you superior compatibility with digital audio, and avoid the entire 4k/8k/whatever k/HDRX battle. Everyone's tired of format wars, and even I'm considering just dropping down to a stereo system to avoid it.
I'll be honest, I'm quite happy with the DAC on the XMC-1, and I've been touting it (the XMC-1) on various forums for the DAC alone. At ~1k used, you can't get a better multichannel DAC with as many inputs. That alone makes the XMC-1 worth the price of admission. I may just keep it when I move to my new house, because I intend to keep my current 3 channel setup (L/C/R), but if the prices on other 4k compatible gear keeps coming down...
It would be interesting if someone just made a 5.1/7.1.2 channel surround *sound* processor. Don't even bother with video or the new dolby atmos and super-channel (11+)setups. It would essentially be a DAC with multiple optical inputs and dolby digital decoding/DTS master decoding...which is *good enough*. Like the XMC-1, focus on fully balanced, differential outputs on FL/FR. I'd buy one.
