I have recently enjoyed perusing craigslist for vintage and classic speakers. It's amazing that some designs have stood the test of time and remain very desirable. In particular, JBL L100's, Klipschorns, and Yamaha NS1000 speakers are still sought after and represent in some cases "statement" designs by the manufacturer. In other cases it would seem that the concept of synergy, where the total effect is greater than the sum of the parts, made a speaker a classic even at an affordable price point, for example EPI, Advent, ADS, etc.
Now maybe I've been a bit out of touch with the market in the last few years, but I found myself at a loss to think of modern speaker designs that would be considered equivalents.
So I thought it would be interesting and informative to pose these question here...
What modern day speaker designs do you think are either destined to become iconic or classics?
What modern day speakers do you think represent a synergistic design that achieves beyond what was expected?
Where do the Emotiva designs fall among those considered?

There are a lot of great designs here! I won't mention my speakers because that's sort of self-serving. lol. But let's see we have a lot of interesting stuff by Tekton Designs. Salk Sound. Paradigm's higher end stuff. Speaker design is definitely doing really well as of late. I think the dfference nowadays is that there is a bit more emphasis on a cohesive sound where driver differences are minimized better. Theil's older stuff.
You can also get a remarkable amount of resolution from some modern speakers.

See my signature for my speakers, and my build thread....for the cost, its pretty hard to compete.
