When switching from another output to the phono stage on the PT 100 the volume is considerably lower than than volume was on the other stage. I've got the correct switch setting for my MM cartridge. I've tried in both positions and the other position sounds really horrible. Is it normal or expected for the output to be lower on the phono stage?

There is a lot of variation in the output of different Phono cartridges, it is normal for there to be a difference (which is often lower). Knowing the output of the cartridge and the sensitivity of the Phono stage can help you predict this kind of thing, but it would be mostly academic. Some preamps have trim controls to help you balance the level of different inputs.

Thanks. I thought that was the case but wasn't sure. I don't see anyway to adjust on the PT 100.
