Well folks... I now have my MC-700 and my A-5175 (now fixed and working beautifully), and I would like to add a cd player. I was thinking about grabbing the matching basx cd-100. Does anyone have any experience, whether it be positive or negative, with this player? Thoughts on whether it would it be worth it?

Hey JimBob, I don't have experience with the CD-100 but I imagine if it is put together anything like the ERC-3 you will be very happy. I own two of the ERC-3, two ERC-2 and have owned the ERC-1 in the past. Each new entry has been an improvement upon thee last. Only issue I have is that one of my ERC-3 spindle motors are noisy, and that same disc tray is a bit sticky at times opening. I still have plenty of warranty left so I may get her tuned up before the warranty runs out. Overall they are fantastic sounding machines and I think you will enjoy the CD-100!

Unless you have "audiophile" ears, the CD-100 would fit well with your rig.
I enjoy mine, and it sounds as good at the ERC-3 I once owned.

I have the ERC-1 which is now going on year six and it works and sounds great. If you are in need of a cd player, I say go for it.

I'm debating myself on the same issue. My old cheap Sony DVD is dying (refuses to read certain CDs) .. and I was planning an upgrade. My main concern is that at least here in Perú, I can buy for the same money a Yamaha Bluray BD-S681 wich doubles as a CD , DVD/Bluray and seems to be quite nice, even reads SACDs (which I have NONE ;-) and has a CD Player mode which turns off all the digital wizardry and spins the disc slower, to allow greater quality.. Also I use the CD only as a transport to my DAC so .. I'm leaning more towards the bluray but I'm worried I might miss an opportunity of improving the sound.

If you’re using any disc player as a transport(digital output coax/optical) then you’ll be relying on a stand-alone DAC or a DAC in a pre/pro or receiver. I prefer Emotiva products when I have need, but in your situation a disc player with the features you want will be just as good.

Buy the cd100! I've had mine for a month now and it is the best cd player I've had, and that includes the Erc 3. That's right, this sounds better to me, than the erc3. There, I said it! And Emotiva, get off yer Asus and get more posted for sale on Amazon, it's been out of stock for over three weeks! Gerry

Also had an ERC-1. The Emotiva CD players are great players. Great sound, great price, and the support is great too. The CD-100 continues the tradition of CD playback excellence, and everyone can have one and enjoy it. It is not for just the chosen few. A definite check mark in the win column. If I already didn't have a couple Players already, I would love to have a CD-100.

I have a very similar set-up. MC-700, A-500 and I added the CD-100(used as a transport). For the absolute best in system sound, I play the CD-100. The only issue I have is you cannot close the CD drawer with a "push" you must use the button or remote to close it. No big deal..

I have been running the CD-100 with the TA-100 through my RF7 II. I haven't had a CD player in a while and was blown away by the sound quality from this set up. I feel the CD-100 was a very good buy for a good price. I just wasn't sure in my set up the ERC3 would make any difference. That and they didn't have any ERC3 at the time I was making the purchase. Glad they didn't as I saved some money yet still got a decent transport.

The TA-100 and CD-100 are a hreat fit and should bring you years of delightful sounding music.
