Howdy,
I've been holding out for a while on a dual sub configuration. I've looked SVS, HSU, and several others including the Monolithic series from monoprice. I'm not sure how much longer I want to wait for options. I think I've sorta made a selection between the Airmotiv S15 and the HSU ULS-15 MK2. It's probably difficult to compare items since we don't have much info on the S15.
Thoughts, other recommendations?
My room size is 15' L x 24' W x 10' H, I'd prefer not to go all that much over the ULS-15 Dual drive package money wise so about $1500.

I liked the JL Audio subs so much I bought two. Certainly these are in the conversation when discussing quality subs.

Check here for subwoofer measurements, you'll be surprised as to which ones have deeper extension, higher SPL capabilities, etc. and don't underestimate a DIY option. data-bass.com/#/systems?_k=qfbhgvOutside of DIY, I would go with SVS. My ears prefer sealed subs for a music only system... either way, HT or music, dual subs are a must for proper room / system tuning.

I'd also check out the Tekton 4/10 and 6/10 sub towers!

…..initialized 4 years ago (this thread) Still it would be interesting to know what you ended up doing. I’ve been following the subwoofer trail ever since Velodyne LiDAR spun off Subs. My HGS still works and looks beautiful but want to be prepared for the next move. I heard an HSU at a friends house and very intrigued by the latest and greatest from SVS.

Who is PRIME MANUFACTURER of Monoprice and even EMO or maybe even Outlaw, if they are still in it?
I'll bet HSU plays into some of this.........I have a VTF2 from years ago and it gives nothing away to any single sub today selling for up to 1/3 more than what I spent.....
I'm about 60 miles or so from HSU HQ so I was able to go there, Listen than buy.....without shipping and a cash discount.......
I see DIY recommended. Only problem is getting a good plate amp with proper flexibility. OR buy a good MONO amp and a MiniDSP?

Currently, my attention is on the SVS PB-3000, which gives you several options on port tuning. The frequency response and SPL look quite good for the price point.
Several years ago I configured a 5.1 surround system for my sister using a Marantz AVR, Golden Ear speakers, and the SVS PB-2000, which has performed very well in her setup.

At SOME point in the purchase of subs.......IF you have a large enough pool of $$$, it becomes a reasonable idea to purchase 2X Lesser Subs than a single Mondo......
I couldn't swing it when I bought my sub, but but would keep that in mind if I even went nuts again....

I couldn't swing it when I bought my sub, but but would keep that in mind if I even went nuts again.... My challenge is finding a place for the 2nd sub. It would have to sit behind the right T2+ and up against the back wall and component stand. I'm guessing consideration must be taken on 2 sub placement so that they don't cancel each other out? Do the subs need to match or can they be of different brand/specifications?

First? FIND and READ the Harman White Paper on subs, plaement and number. That' may give you some ideas and at least 'food for thought'....
Next? I have a room with 8 asymmetric sides. NOT counting a 2-pitch ceiling an0d floor. One wall at a 45 degree angle to the rest....It aint' pretty.
But? It seems to break up standing nodes.
My original sub placement on the LEFT, behind that speaker was NO GOOD. Sub in that corner, even as far out as I could get it, STILL resulted in boomy
bass and in an offshoot room, the den, like being in a 55 gallon drum......
I MOVED the sub 10 or so feet to the OTHER side, behind the Right speaker. I placed it sideways so the port fired parallel to the back wall. Woofer is DownFiring, so no change there.
Without changing a SINGLE setting? Now musical with very good LF extension and good timing with the panels.
The word? EXPERIMENT. Try stuff out. I've even heard of STACKED subs, but don't know if that works. Put ONE sub behind the sofa, maybe....
Since nothing you do cannot be UNDONE, you can't make any fatal mistakes......DRAW a room plan. Than go to the CARDAS webside for some speaker
placement help.
IMO? Nothing that can't be fixed............Carry On!

I just decided to browse around the forum and notice this thread had activity. I ultimately picked up 2 ULS-15 subs from HSU based on availability at the time. I ran those for about 4 years and more recently I have switched up to the SVS PC-4000 series. In both cases, running dual subs. The HSU subs were pretty good in my space but they work much better in my friends enclosed space that is smaller. The set of PC-4000 subs I am running now just blow them away. The PC-4000 has a much higher power availability and it handles very low and infra-sonic ranges much better than the HSU ULS-15. I like the PC-4000 so much I might even pick up a 3rd if I can figure out placement and setup a wireless interconnect.

S3613 Is on my “hit list” also…(my mains have dual woofers in push pull configuration.) Could make for an interesting match up.

I was interested in the PC-4000, but my otherwise audio tolerant wife objected to the ‘cylinder’. I choose a pair of SB-4000’s instead and am generally happy with them, but I’m sure the PC’s are also very good.

I ended up getting dual Airmotiv RS-11 subs using the recent 20% off discount. The smaller size allowed me to get two, instead of one larger sub. So far they sound great, my wife even likes how they look and sound. She noticed right away that they sound tighter and faster than the 20 year old 15" Definitive Tech Sub we were using.

I believe I've heard the 3600 sealed unit, though not necessarily the newest version. Anyway, it is all kind of ridiculous. Think "ultimate sub" and "completely full range".

I should point out that for me, this is all about the “what if” scenario. It’s good to see these viable options from other subwoofer manufacturers with the demise of Velodyne however, just shortly before they put the key in the door, I had the original plate (HGS 18) amplifier replaced by Velodyne with updated caps/components used in the later “Digital Drive” series…..so I was told better than the original….Indeed I hope they’re right (sounds awesome yet).
