I had the Elacs and was very unimpressed with them and sent them back. Just no WOW factor for me. Bought a pair of Klipsch 280s and I am now in dreamland. Just my experience though. Everyone is different!!

I might just do that tonight. Thanks, love seeing what other people are measuring☺ Here is the three different traces I ran covering 18Hz the 180Hz. This speaker is about 1' out from a wall and about 3' from the corner. No EQ used.

I think that was 1/12 smoothing.

Any speaker staying flat down to 18hz as in the green line is almost unheard of, in fact I am not aware of any speaker that is capable of that, impressive!

As an ELAC owner, I have to recommend them wholeheartedly.

Gents:
with a full T2s, C2, E2 setup... can someone explain what i can really expect between these different power setups? Cost is a little bit of a factor as I will have to justify to the S.O. why all the new audio gear leading into Christmas...
Higher-end, but older AVR (Denon 3808ci) - Free
A-500 - $500
XPA Gen 3 in 3.2 setup -$1600
Again room is approx. 16 x 16 with 18 foot ceilings. Its a central entertaining space with dining, offices, bedrooms, and such all connected to its 'corners'. Usage would be entertaining music, watching of tv and some HT.
I don't want over kill, and I don't want under powered. Right now debating on getting the A-500 and using preamp outs... then upgrading to more power and a newer preamp when needed/warranted.
Thanks

The T2 is amazing. It was and is Emotiva's best work so far. I think it is sounds fantastic. Even more so than the T1. The presence and dynamics are very impressive. Mid-range is right on too. Bass extension is good and tight and we'll extended. It is allot of speaker for the money and when combined with the C2 and appropriate surrounds a great multi-channel solution.

Rooms do awful things to speakers below about 300hz.

Just my opinion, and I have plenty of "big" speakers, but a room that size, the T2's are way too big. I think you would be better suited with some 6s's and two small subs optimally placed.

I don't think Emotiva's demo room for the T2s was that big at Emofest. And they sounded fantastic in there.

My room is not large, and some might not even call it medium, but it is well furnished and damped. I've never had an issue with a tower arrangement. My T2's sound fantastic...

Higher-end, but older AVR (Denon 3808ci) - Free A-500 - $500 XPA Gen 3 in 3.2 setup -$1600 I am assuming the Denon has preamp outputs. You'd probably notice some difference on 2 channel music after some critical listening between the BasX and the XPA. Highly doubtful for movies. Both will sound substantially better than using the Denon's amp section.

Yes, the Denon does.. and I will replace at some point in the next year anyways to a decent pre-amp or maybe an XMC-1 if I can swing it. I didnt realize the specs on the A-5175.. I may go to that instead to get a few more watts to the T2s in stereo.

Hi all: This is my first post. I was looking to buy a new set of towers (along with matching center, and eventually rears) for a central entertaining space in my house. My budget point as around $1000 for the pair (assuming other speaker are adeuqately priced) After research I am narrowed down to the following choices: 1. Airmotiv T2s 2. ELAC Uni-Fi F5s 3. DefTech BP9040s 4. Chane A5.4s (whenever available) 5. Kef Q350s on stands I think my primary use will be music listening, both in the room and near by, but also TV watching, and some home theater type viewing. The room is ~18 Wide by 16 deep with 18' ceilings and open floor plan flow to other rooms, Main viewing is on a 65" wall mounted screen. Speakers would be to either side of my BDI cabinet, so placemment would be somewhere between 8-12 feet apart and no more than 1 foot off the back wall. Seating distnace is approximately 10'. Concerns: I want sonic purity and full-spectrum roundness of sound-- happy to buy speakers meant for a bigger space as long as they give good response across all frequencies at lower volumes. I want to have a clean look, but dont really care too much about exotic materials. I worry about space behind the speakers being adequate. I am torn on using an exisiting subwoofer, getting a new sub (both options break up the clean look at present), or going witht he powered speaker solution (hence the DTs in the list). Questions: I suspect strong support of the Airmotivs over the others in the list, but what am I not considering? Why T2s over the other options? Should I look to the smaller T1s or the 5-channel bundle based on the size of the space? I haven't ventured beyond higher end receivers; what combo would you recommend for powering these that gave both HT and 2.1 playback capability? Does Emotiva ever run any black friday / cyber monday type specials i should be patient for? Thanks in advance. Hello pilot,,I just received my t2's and c2 yesterday...man are these sweet!!! Such clarity and balance!!! No regrets here!!!

I can vouch only for the T2's in your list. I also have the C2 and E2s and couldn't be happier with the sound I'm getting in surround or stereo. The T2s can function quite nicely without a sub and if you get a little boominess with placement close to a wall you can experiment with partial or full port plugging. One of mine is close to a corner and with the help of Rory settled on a 1.5" tube surrounded by foam to plug the port. Took 6dB out of a 45Hz peak I was getting on that side. I have the same setup with the XMC1 and the sound is amazing!!!!

Both will sound substantially better than using the Denon's amp section. In 2 channel stereo I noticed zero sound quality difference between my old Denon 3805 and using an XPA-2 Gen 1. My speakers have a sensitivity of 92.
