Have my MC-700 for a week and getting annoyed that I have to setup my HDMI audio each time.
For example, I have HDMI 1, with Optical 1 for audio, in stereo only.
So I have to scroll through digital audio each time to go to Optical. Then have to scroll 5 times through the surround modes to Stereo.
I wish it would just remember how HDMI 1 and audio was last time used. My cheap Denon receiver did this, thought it was a prerttt basic thing.
Am I missing something?

I wish it would just remember how HDMI 1 and audio was last time used. My cheap Denon receiver did this, thought it was a prerttt basic thing. Am I missing something? Probably this (from page 19 of the user manual)... The Setup Menu allows to confgure exactly how the MC-700 operates to suit your personal preferences. From the Main Menu, use the Right Arrow Button to move the cursor to the Setup Menu option, then press the Down Arrow Button to enter the Setup Menu.Several of the choices in the Setup Menu have additional options and sub-options. When you wish to change the setting for an option, use the Right Arrow to move to the option feld, use the Up and Down Arrow Buttons to change the option value, then use the Left Arrow Button to return to the previous feld (there is no need to use the Enter Button unless instructed to). Input Confg - allows you to confgure several options independently for each Input. For each input you can: - confgure whether the input is Enabled - confgure what audio source is associated with that input - change the friendly name of the input - change the Lip Synch setting for that input - set an individual gain adjustment for that input - set whether the Trigger Output is activated when that input is selected

Thanks for the response.
What you’ve described is what I have done, this changes all the settings. But it does not save. So next time I start up the unit from Standby, I have to redo the sorround setting for HDMI 1 and select Optical 1 for audio.

I figured it out. Seems that HDMI 1 cannot have a different audio setup in the SETUP Input Config menu, but works if I press Dig on the remote, however that doesn’t save.
So I changed to HDMI 2 and now From the Input Config Setup menu, I can change it to Optical and it saves.

It may have to do with HDMI 1 having ARC ??
