Breaking in a new set of T1's. I'm a fan of AMT designs. I replaced a set of JBL 4408A monitors in the TV room. Those had the crossovers reworked with air foil inductors and MIT and InfiniCap capacitors.
I found the T1's a bit damped on transients on CD's I know well. Other speakers here reproduced those. I ended up adding a pair of film bypass caps across the tweeter crossover capacitor. That fixed that problem. I used a polypropylene .1 uf 400V InfiiniCap with a .01 uf 630V polystyrene.
Those added the damped last 1/2 octave at 15~20k adding the missing realism. I'm using an Adcom 400 preamp with Analog Devices opamps. The power amp is a modified Adcom GFA 545 with Kimber silver interconnects and 8TC speaker cable. The Dac is a prototype BurrBrown PCM 1704 based built by Mytek Digital.

I hadn't know that Rory had moved on till I tried to reference him in my note. I must have missed his goodbye note. Too bad. He seemed like a good guy.
In any case, like I said, I'm not sure who's taken over that part of the business at Emotiva.

I also did this same mod to a pair of B1's I use as small nearfield studio monitors. Those are excellent with the Adcom GFA 545 power amp and Kimber speaker cable. The preamp is a custom built unity gain current feedback design with a -120 dbu noise floor and a whopping 2000V/us slew rate. THD is 1.5 ppm. Bandwidth is 30 mhz.
The DAC is a custom built Ross Martin Audio Super Beast fitted with a low noise Linear Tech regulated power supply and Analog Devices ADA 4898-1 opamps. The DAC chips are Burrbrown PCM/DSD 1792's in a dual cosine config with a 132 db dynamic range. The entire rig from DAC to speakers is direct coupled, no caps in the signal path.
The speakers hold up very well with this stuff as I am a pro audio biz designer here as well as a musician and listener.
