I bought an ERC-2 in the US years ago from someone who never used it, they already had a few CD players, I used it a few times after purchase without a problem, but since we moved back to Australia it's been in the box not being used, I got it out yesterday and fired it up, it played beautifully, I forgot how good this unit sounds. Listened to a CD then ejected it and put in another, listened to it for a while then went to eject it, the player would make noises like it would eject it and had the words WAIT on the screen. Then it would say loading and load the CD again, I could skip tracks etc and it sounded fine. I tried to eject it many times and the same thing. I turned it off and left it for a couple of hours and went back to it and it ejected the disc first time without a problem.
I tried the first disc I played and it would play it and eject it without a problem, this morning I tried it again and no problem, I can't see anything wrong with the offending disc but not game to put it back in, it's a TDK CD-R, the first disc is an original Elton John CD.
Anyone else have this problem as I love this player and it's only played about a dozen CD's in it's life so it would be a crying shame if it broke down?
UPDATE: Tried it again and now it struggles to eject any CD, it seems like it's hesitating and sometimes it will go back to loading the CD and others will just eject it but not with the usual speed.

i have seen this most of the time you can see why it has issues if you put the disc on a very level even table generally you can see that the disc is warped

Now this has me wondering as I left the player unplugged till the next day and it ejects all CD's fine without any hesitation, have been using it for a few days now without a hitch, so fingers crossed it keeps going as it's like new.

I had an issue where the ERC-2 would not eject my cd. It finally ejected it after several attempts. When I inserted the next disc it made the sounds like it was attempting to read the disc and then it started a grinding noise. Come to find out after sending it into Emotiva for service that it had a cracked spindle motor table and bad spindle motor. Both were replaced although it took two attempts. Good luck

I had an ERC-1 that I had to myself swap out the drive mechanism, took it out and searched the part # on google and ordered one from China, that was about 3 years ago and at that time Emotiva didn't have parts and the ERC-1 was off warranty.

Chad What was the configuration of the drive? Was it like a laptop slot load drive or 5-1/4 slot load drive. Were the connectors on the back SATA? I'm thinking of going after a ERC-1 that the owner says no longer will read discs.
