Hello,
In my country, due to import tax, VAT, overseas transport, dealer markup, etc.... the prices for speakers are:
T1 - 950 USD T2 - 1375 USD
For Christmas local Emotiva dealer is running a promo selling T1 for 715 USD.
So I have the option of buying T2 or T1 for almost half the price. These will go in 5.1 HT system as left/right speakers. I will also be buying a SVS PB-2000 subwoofer, C1 or C2 for center.
Do you think it's worth paying almost twice for T2 or should I stick to T1?
Thank you, Cristian

So for the difference in price I'd probably go with the T1 for a dedicated 5.1 system. If you plan on doing much 2.0 listening I'd recommend the T2. And I'd highly recommend the C2 center channel for either of the towers.

I agree with all above, the T1 with a sub would be great !

Just a quick news-flash - The Absolute Sound magazine (THE voice of audiophile pooh-bahs) named the Emotiva T1 their "budget speaker of the year" for 2017. Can't go wrong with a recommendation like that.

Oh - and they got it for 2016 as well - and for 2015 - and 2014 - and 2013 - and 2012 - and you guessed it - 2011 too. That would be Salk Song Towers.

Need to know more like how big is your room, what are your sources and personal tastes, etc... However one thing is for sure, the T2's aren't twice as good as the T1's so it's going to be a tough case to make to justify the T2's.

Well unfortunately Emotiva solved my dilemma. They did not send any T2 in the shipment to their dealer so I ended up with T1.

I am vey happy with the T-1s. They are used for music, movies and tv in a 2 channel setup with a TA-100. They reproduce dialogue crisp and clean. Experimenting with placement will yield surprising results for movies without a sub. You have the option of adding a sub for additional effects. Music reproduction is great. I do not think you will be disappointed, especially for the price, enjoy!

Interesting. I was about to make a similar post. I'm looking at updating/upgrading my system (15-20 year old DefTech's, BP7004 and CLR 2500 I think) and am seriously considering the Emotiva's. My room is 13' wide, 17' long and 8' high. I'm about 60/40 movies/music. I have 2 PSA 15" subs, so either speaker will probably be crossed over at 80 Hz, at least for movies. I remember reading somewhere that the T2's were a little more even/balanced in the bass region in addition to their lower output. Even with standard pricing, I'm not sure how much value the T2's have over the T1's in my situation. Although I'd like to have a C2, the C1 would fit perfectly in my Salamander AV unit. Anything I should be considering to help me decide? Never want to under buy, but would I be "wasting" $600 on the T2's in my situation? The nearest dealer is about 1.5 hours away, but they don't stock any towers. The salesman said he could contact Emotiva about sending something over, but I doubt they would send both towers over for a comparison.

They are great w/o a sub, so for pure 2 channel - they would be great. If you were 90/10 movies...with the subs, I'd go for the T1's if budget limited me. If not - I'd still go T2's. Mark

I think a 13x18 room is pretty small for the T2's, even the T1's in my humble opinion.

Have you seen this thread? emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/51352/emotiva-airmotiv-speakers-price-rangeWith the subs you won’t hear a low end difference, but my guess is the T2’s would have a somewhat bigger sound stage - a little more width and a little more depth. However if it were me, I’d buy Boomzilla’s Pendragons for the same $$ as the T2’s. Shipping would probably be $200 but that's still a bargain. Btw, you don't need the salesman to contact Emotiva and have them send the speakers over; you can audition both speakers at home by going directly to Emotiva and using their home audition program.

The OP has decided to get the T1s. Great choice for his needs, IMHO.
