i will buy 2.1 setup only once
Sub- Emo s10 or BIC f12(whichever works better) price 28k/24k respectively Speaker- Airmotiv 6s price 45k DAC/AMP- Micca origen+ (already have)/ new one can be bought in 6 months for around 40k
I know i can use origen+ and 6s together with pre out. But how would i add sub to this configuration? And can i set crossover frequency(or will crossover frequency work in this case)? Does crossover frequency work with powered speakers/studio monitors? do powered sub and powered speakers( airmotiv 6s) work together
If nothing works then recommend me few setups, budget is INR 75k-80k.
I want this setup for desk(gaming, music, movies).

When you add a k after a number, it means 1000. Is your budget 75,000 to 80,000 USD? You have lots of options if that's the case.

I having deja vu here................... The Airmotiva 6's will naturally roll off in frequency response, around 70/60 hz by my ear. It's not a cut off, they don't stop outputing at 70/60 hz, the volume just decreases in a slope, downwards as the frequency decreases. It doesn't hurt them feeding them full range, they just don't produce lower frequencies than they can handle. Same with the BasX S10, if you set the cross over at say 80 hz it will have the reverse slope, the volume just decreases as the frequency increases. The trick is matching the slopes so that cumulative volume at/around the cross over point matches the volume before and after; In summary Airmotive 6's plus an S10 will work OK for most music, personally I'd probably stretch the budget to a S12 if you are using it for games and/or movies. Ultimately where you set the cross over on the sub woofer is whatever sounds best to you, The common starting point is 80 hz because around that frequency it becomes harder to pick the direction it's coming from, so we don't loose the stereo effect. You should be able to go a bit below that as the Airmotive 6's can produce it. Half the fun is in the experimenting and there is no right or wrong answer, it's whatever suits you. Cheers Gary

I am going with s10 because room size is 13x13, and i dont like lot of bass, just enough to feel but want fast, tight and punchy. i might never use 200w on S10, hell not even 100w. Is S10 better or BIC F12?

I have an S8 under my desk, for my computer, and it is WAY more than enough. It doubles as a foot rest, and I can easily say it is the best $200 USD I've ever spent

I giggled just a little bit when I read this And no port chuffing when going a bit high? sitting under my desk, I'm effectively in near field of the sub. The back of my desk has floor to desk bracing that angles slightly, my seating position is in the center of that angle. With the port of the S8 facing away from me and into the angle of the bracing, I effectively have created a horn loaded effect for the port. I barely have the gain on the sub turned up, and listening at well over 95db there's no issues. Most of the time I'm listening in the 65-75 db range, it is a computer desk and I am in near field, after all

For games and movies you might find that you need the sub and then the BasX S12 would be my choice. I'm sure that you are aware, but just in case, the BasX S10 has a 10" driver and the BIC F12 has a 12" driver, so it's not really an apples to apples comparison. Plus the BasX S10 has a 200 watt power amp, whereas the BIC F12 has a 150 watt amp. I haven't heard a BIC F12 but I would be very surprised if it sounded anywhere near as good as the BasX S10. Cheers Gary

I used to have two 10" subs under my desk, I replaced them with a single BasX S8....and I'm perfectly happy.

Is s10 not enough for gaming and movies? Yes i also think s10 should outperform f12 or atleast will be tighter than f12.

This will work too, right? 3.5mm to rca in on s10 and 2 cables of rca out from s10 to xlr in on 6s(individually) I set crossover frequency to 70-80hz (fine tune to my liking) and control all volume of s10 and 6s with origen+, does that make sense? i have included pics for my understanding.

View AttachmentView AttachmentI didn't even know the S10 sub had RCA outs, does anyone know if they adjust with volume from the preamp ? if no one here who owns can comment on that maybe a quick call to Emotiva can confirm and if so yes that would work.
