Although beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, I would like to give to the Emotiva team as a costumer my take on their speakers line.
these speaker might be an excellent buy for the asking price and their sound; nonetheless, the ugly "Industrial" look of them specially in their "Black Only" color, is I'm certain of it a detrimental factor to the percentage of people with more refine taste and sensibility as to what goes into their living room, specially when factoring the infamous "wife factor".
If Emotiva were to create a line with a more refined aesthetics, and a couple of more pleasant offerings as far as cabinet color goes they would have a tremendous and appealing line of speakers that would entice more people to buy them. Personally, if that were the case, I would seriously consider your speakers.

I suppose the unwashed masses who have Emotiva speakers just lack your sophistication. Would you mind sharing examples of speakers which you consider acceptable aesthetics? And welcome!

Nothing wrong with an honest opinion. I agree with it and i'm not a troll. I can honestly say my wife likes the looks of the T2s so it's not an automatic low WAF. They do look better in person and blend into the surroundings better than many of the gaudy finishes you see that stand out like sore thumbs.

rbr is a member on this fine lounge since 2008 Mitch Good catch, 1 post in 10 yrs. A man of few words The Air's are not the most beautiful speakers but for a theater i think they are fine and should disappear once the lights go down. I am a huge fan of furniture grade finish's in wood veneer, to each his own. I think it is hard for a speaker manufacturers try to differentiate themselves from each other however they can, but the speakers with ugly silver plastic doodad's really are a bigger turnoff.

Black speakers are somewhat industrial-looking, and the angularity of the Emotiva models may emphasize or deemphasize that industrial look, depending on one's taste. However, for the price (never a trivial consideration), I think that it would be virtually impossible to offer a real wood veneer on the Emotiva speakers. Would I have preferred a wood-grain vinyl wrap to the existing black? Yes, I would have, but I'm probably in the minority. If there's one thing that Emotiva seems to do well, it's marketing. Their calculation was that the majority of potential Airmotiv buyers would be satisfied with the "basic black," and I'm confident that they're right. The OP and I are in the "vocal minority" who would strongly prefer another finish, but like the Ford Model-T, the Airmotivs are available in any color you want - so long as it's black... If the all-black aesthetics are not palatable, then other speakers are available in wood-grain vinyl or real wood finishes. But the money that goes into the finish is money that doesn't go into the drivers, crossover, and engineering. So for a comparably-priced speaker, I suspect one gives away some performance in exchange for the finish. I must also agree with socketman, who points out the gaudiness of contrasting plastic bezels around the drivers, etc. And finally, one man's "gaudy" is another's "cool!" In matters of taste there is no dispute. Cheers - Boomzilla

I don't think it's just the black. I'm not crazy about the "stealth fighter jet" contours. But again that's just me. I do agree that it differentiates the speakers... Whether or not that is a good thing is in the eye of the beholder.

When i bought my current speakers they were wrapped in vinyl faux wood . I eventually stripped it off and redid them with real wood veneer. I dont see that being possible given all the angles on the Air's , but they are not offensive in any way, a little unique actually. Really there is only so much you can do to a square box, right?

The Focal Kanta in the wood veneer with the cream or beige color at the front are one of the designs that my wife really loves, and I like it too. The Bowers and Wilkins in wood veneer are a piece of art really, but I know some people don"t like them, none the less they are a statement. Check the Sonus Faber. that's style. Anyway, I though that I was posting to the Emotiva team , not the people in the forum. Like I said in my original post: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and if the Black Industrial design of the Airmotiv rocks some people world more power to them because at least they can have them. You know, of course, Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder. Can't miss with a 'prettier' speaker, especially if the significant other gets involved in some part of the decision making process. Me? Count me in for solid BAMBOO. www.etsy.com/listing/85173717/bamboo-speaker-boxThe finger joinery on the corners really makes it look like a quality project. Trouble with Bamboo? It is more expensive to fabricate. Bamboo has a lot of SILICA in it which will chew into even Carbide Tooling. We all know that a sharp tool is a happy tool.

Different strokes for sure. My wife would never go for those in our living room.
