I may upgrade my subwoofer .....so far lay eyes on these two. Budget is < $1000
Need help on which one to go. Here are my rooms details:
18'x 25', right side is windows with curtain, left side is open to hallway
60% movies 40% pop songs/concerts
I am looking for good tight bass.
If you have these two subwoofers please let me know how well you like them.
Thanks.

I have the bigger HSU. They are amazing. The VTF-3mk5 is the same sub as mine but a smaller box with round ports. The only difference between the two is below 25hz mine will have a bit more output... around 3db at 16hz maybe 2db at 20hz but at 25hz and higher they are equal in output. What I can tell you is this sub is really good at music. I have my Q set to .55 and mine are calibrated with dirac and listening to music is a pure joy. The bass is really tight but can also be set tighter by setting the Q knob down to .3. Be careful because you can get this sub set too tight and it looses it's full sound. But you can adjust it and it sounds great.
Everything I've read says the HSU is the more musical sub vs any other sub out there and I've seen some refer it to the psa... but with that said I cannot confirm this as all I've had is the HSU subs. I just got my second one last week... and man what a difference two makes.
The PSA I've read alot of good things about them and if movies were your primary choice I probably would of said PSA but the PSA is a class D amplifier where the HSU uses a a/b amplifier... which if you do your research are known to be more musical.
Since you mention 40% music your in that same boat as me... I'm 60/40 also and I went with HSU and couldn't be happier.

I too have the larger HSU. It's much better than my old SVS PC-Ultra.

HSU. I have two of the sealed 15's and they're awesome. And their customer support is great, too.

Can't go wrong with either but I prefer PSA. I have the PSA Triax and it's the end gamer with 3 15" drivers and 8000 watt amp. Sick. Rattles the windows on the 2nd floor like they are going to shatter! Neighbor says he feels like dinosours are walking thru his house and I'm at least 150 feet from his house.

Thanks for comparing a $1k sub to a $4k sub. I'm glad to see a difference.

I have the VTF2-Mk11 or 111. It is a wonderful piece of goods which knowing the good Dr. (Dr Hsu) will only be bettered with the new 'mark'.
Me? If I had a grand, maybe stretch to 1200$, I'd buy a PAIR of whatever I could from HSU.
With an 8 foot ceiling, the 18x25 room is only about 3600 cubic feet, the REAL measure for a sub. A pair, located asymmetrically, would be awesome.
A PAIR of the VTF-2 mk V would kill in that room.
