Forking off the old threads and replacing the "2017?" with "2018!" — because I'm very enthusiastic and positive that we will see it this year! Old threads: RMC-1 coming in 2017?Emotiva RMC-1 processorSo last we heard, it was going to have 16 channels fully differential with an AK4490EN chip on each. I can't find that one listed on AK's website anymore. Is this going to end up being the AK4490EQ now? That's just a different packaging. The AK4497EQ is still too expensive unfortunately. (sigh) So, let the CES, and general 2018 RMC-1 anticipation commence! Casey

Casey From memory the AK4490EN is the later 6 mm version of the AK4490EK which was 9 mm and the AK4490EQ has been replaced by the AK4493EQ. The AK4490EN is on the AKN (English language) web site; www.akm.com/akm/en/product/datasheet1/?partno=AK4490ENCheers Gary

Ah, thanks Gary! I don’t know why I couldn’t find that.
Huh, the AK4493EQ seems like an AK4497EQ killer.

If it sits closer in price to the 90 (that it replaces) than the 97 then it's a category killer for sure. Maybe that's what Emotiva have been hanging out for, the 93 to be released for volume sale Cheers Gary.

Yeah, the AK4493EQ looks like it'll be pretty amazing, but if the RMC-1 is currently designed around the AK4490EN, that sounds like it would require quite a bit of rework. The AK4493 is in the same 48-pin LQFP packaging as the AK4490EQ and 'm presuming also 9mm.

I'll have to double check some pix I took at Emofest, but last I knew the DC2 was going to use the 4490's and I was thinking the RMC used the same ones. I could be wrong. I'll see what I can find once I get home tomorrow unless someone else has info before that. It does appear Emotiva is pretty tight w/AKM, though.

Casey The 4493 would be one in the eye for Denons 8500H [and the Marantz equivalent] as they've listed the 4490 too ;spring 2018 has been mentioned for that though.. I imagine the Denon isn't fully balanced input to output like the RMC1 though which admittedly means more to me

Just found a price reference for the AK4493EQ here. It's showing up as $3.5640@2000 units, which is a bit over a dollar more than equivalent pricing on the AK4490EN and AK4490EQ which come in around $2.14. And wildly better than the AK4497EQ which comes in at $20-21 each! Casey

I checked the photos I had from Emofest...I thought one showed the board well enough to see what chips were in it, but...not enough in focus to see. Sorry! Maybe someone else has a better photo. As I said above, the DC2 was shown as including the 4490's and I thought the RMC was using the same ones. I could be wrong.

Oh, I'm pretty sure that it was announced that they were using the AK4490EN's. I was just curious about what may have changed in the last year as newer parts become available.

Hhmmm, no, I didn’t see that announcement. Where did you see it?
[[ Edit: Sorry, I hadn't seen the link because ProBoards is way too subtle the way it highlights links. ]]

I'm thinking the RMC-1 is awesome...
but the XMC-1 with the V3/atmos setup is suppose to repurpose it's zone outs to handle 7.2.4 = 11.2 total
RMC-1 is being called 16 channels but it's really 13.3 or 7.3.6
I'd be willing to upgrade just for the discrete balanced outputs for each channel... but for me being a 7.2.4 setup at the best case scenario I don't see the cost benefits to upgrade when the XMC-1 makes me happy

My fingers are crossed for reconfigurable 9.1.6 processing. RMC1 has multiple set dolby atmos positions bblv including the sadly neglected front wides so many 7.1.4 avrs and pre pro's cant manage :)sweet if you have the room "Hi kids, You can re-assign the L & R subs to surround duty. Also, the RMC-1 now supports 9.1.6!! Cheers, Big Dan"

Great news that it will be shipped by end of March. Just speculation here, but that means there may be a few out in the wild right now for testing. Exciting stuff!! I'm currently building a new theater room and have been working on it a lot during weekends and nights. Wife doesn't always appreciate the time I have been spending building the room. So last night I thought to myself I could stop working as much on building my theater room because without the RMC-1, I would have no way to drive the 9.1.6 setup. But now I see I'm going to have to keep working so the RMC-1 has a home around March or April.
