Using XMC 1 in 7.1 unbalanced setup. Recently had to disconnect everything due to fires. Then tried the latest firmware update but i guess the front panel got fried. Send the unit to Emotiva - front panel fixed. tried to calibrate the system but get nothing coming from the subwoofer !!! not sure what happened and how to trouble shoot. Any ideas/recommendations ?
TIA

Please verify that a subwoofer is configured in the menu! Also verify the cutoff frequency. Wire the sub temporarily to one of the other outputs (e.g. front left) to make sure there's sound output from the sub, just to rule out the sub.

How do I verify sub configuration in the menu - my current set up says sub as Mono. what about the cut off frequency ?
I will check the signal from one of the other speakers too.
thanks

If the setup says "mono" then the sub has been configured correctly.
If there's a frequency control knob on the sub, set it to the highest position and this would then use the cutoff setting on the XMC-1.

changing the frequency nob to the highest setting did the trick - thanks.
I have another sub which i would like to integrate in the system. What would be the best way to do it ?

You could feed the second sub using the XLR sub output. It's really still the same mono sub signal as I don't think the XMC-1 has 2 separate sub outs.
The other way is to split the RCA sub output using an RCA signal splitter.
You'll need to experiment with sub positioning to even out room modes.

yup 2 sub outs. can run dual mono or stereo sub. i prefer the splitter method though so Dirac reads both subs at the same time.

i will run them as dual mono using rca connections. in the setting menu once i select the dual mono setting - is there anything else that needs to be done. I would presume that both the subs need to be crossed at the same frequency ? the subs are from different companies - hope that is not an issue.

Make sure your processor is not on DIRECT MODE
Check sub connection to PROCESSOR

As socketman said, Dirac sees them as one sub, so if you're using Dirac then set the same crossover for both using the splitter method. That's how I have mine although I have one sub and the other feeds tactile transducers (Buttkickers) mounted under the riser.

I have them working now. I only have Dirac lite but I have misplaced my calibration mic. So the setup was done using the good old sound meter. However, now when the system turns on the subs make a “farting” sound at the beginning !!

Am I seeing DOUBLE POSTS before the NFL Games begin?

Any ideas/recommendations for the “farting” sound from the subwoofer? Is it my amp? Or the electrical? Or signal too hot or perhaps XMC related?
