Hey guys could you help me. I just got my new emotiva a-100 and am wondering if it could run Jamo's C95 - on producer page they said it is recommended minimal amp power 60 W at 6 ohms, a-100 gives 50 W at 8 ohms and 80 W at 4 ohms so I guess it would be ok but as far as minimal power would be provided wouldn't they be too silent with it?

You will do fine with the a100 since the Jamos are quite efficient at 89dbs, unless you like to listen at insane levels all the time.

Do you have the Jamo's yet? The answer would depend greatly on how large the room is and how reflective the sounds surfaces are. Is there lots of sound deadening in the room like carpeting, drapes, soft covered furniture, etc., might need slightly more power ..... or is there lots of hard surfaces like bare floor or concrete, no drapes, etc., would need less power, relatively. Also, how loud do you like your music and what type? This is a quite powerful little amp and the C95's would be considered an entry level tower speaker but good quality. The A-100 would deliver about 65 watts or so into the 6 ohm C95. These speaker specs from the manufacturer can be quite accurate or sometimes not so. Know that doubling the power to say 130 watts into 6 ohms gives only a small 3 decibel increase in sound, surprising for many folks. I would guess this A-100 might be very satisfactory driving these Jamo's to fairly loud and clean levels. Know that many times the speaker will sound quite different in your own room than at the dealer's.
If you have a small to medium size room you should be OK. Best way is to test the speakers in your room with the A-100. If you have a large room and for some reason you don't get adequate volume for your music and likes then I would consider going up in speaker efficiency that plays louder with the same power like perhaps the lower priced Klipsch. If you find the sound of the Jamo's very good for your ears but not loud enough then I would go up (at least double) in amp power (I doubt if you would find that anywhere near your current budget).
Most likely I think the A-100/Jamo C95 will be a good match in your apparent budget of $230 + $400/pr = $623. For $300 more and a big improvement in sound go for the Emotiva Airmotiv T1.

Thanks for advice. So judging by what you have said they should work. I'm living and a pretty small flat (36 square meteres) and I am going to place jamo's at 24 square meteres space. As far as going for emotiva's airmotiv t1 they out of my budget because of duty costs, they cost as much as jamos in my country but after duty charge I couldn't afford them right now - but maybe I will wait, will see. Thanks for anwsers.

Yes, I now understand the duty. In that fairly small area I think you will be very happy with the Emo/Jamo sound combination. It should sound very nice! That 65 watts or more will be there only for very dynamic peaks. It should loaf along from less than one watt to maybe 15 watts even on low to fairly loud music. At one meter distance each C95's will reproduce in the neighborhood of 106 decibels with 65 watts (maybe slightly more with instantaneous dynamic peaks). At normal sitting distance (2-4 meters) you should easily reach high levels. If one speaker reproduces 106 dB's with 65 watts then two speakers will reach 109 dB's at one meter. However, at 2 meters the two will reach 103 meters and at 4 meters they will reach 97 dB's. You should have tons of power in your room. For the cleanest sound (not overly bassy) try keeping the Jamo C95's with their rear ports 30cm or more away from a rear wall or side wall and out from any corner the same. Hope you enjoy that new system!

Real talk ....it'll do "okay." Within about two watts of power is going to be your normal listening volume. The rest is for peaks.
I've used a 5 watt per channel tube amp to get to healthy volume levels and enjoyed the heck out of it. However solid state devices do watts a little bit differently (even though they probably shouldn't). I've run the mini-x in to my Axiom m80's and they did fine. No real problems. I was able to drive it to realistic volume levels. And by that I mean what a human voice would sound like singing and acoustics instruments would sound like playing in my small living room at lifelike volumes. Also they sounded really nice. However know that there are improvements to be had in things like the quality and control of the sound as you go up the emotiva line. That's why I use the XPA-1 gen 2 monoblocks. A used XPA-2 gen 2 would be a solid improvement over the mini-x - if you ever planned to upgrade.
I know any sane person is not going to buy the mini-x to have a block party. They just want something that'll do the job and sound nice. And it will do so.

Real goofy talk above ..... As usual a poster is indicating that he is on a very limited budget, especially now that we know he is out of the US. So he gets the advice that he should consider the why "I use the XPA-1 gen 2 monoblocks, (about $2400 for two)! A used XPA-2 gen 2 would be a solid improvement over the mini-x." Great advice at about a couple of monoblocks at $2400 plus or a used amp shipped overseas probable near $1000 or more shipped and no warranty?
Great advice. I suggested the T1's since I thought $299 more might be possible. Now I know it is not in his budget. But we have a suggestion to drive a pair of Jamo C95's with two $2400 mono's. That's about 800 watts per ch into 6 ohms in a 15 x 15 room? Why not take up a collection here so we can maybe buy him the Xpa-1 or XPA-2 (new only) and perhaps a pair of Airmotiv T2's! Déjà vu?
