From what I'm reading. The less channels you use the more power the amp will put out? I'm thinking of using my 500 for my front 3 channels only will it be beneficial to do this or just use all 5 channels for my home theater. Plan in using avr for surrounds.

The amp won't put out more power, but the channels being used will get more. Hard to say if it will sound better since I doubt you are red-lining the amp now. It may sound a little better but probably very difficult to pick out.

That is sort of true - but it depends on the context. When you're taking measurements, you measure the output power of an amplifier with some or all channels driven to full power. And, when you do it that way, and all channels share a common power supply, using fewer channels results in there being more power available to each. However, music is dynamic, and virtually never requires any channel to deliver full power for more than a split second, or for multiple channels to deliver full power at once. Therefore, with real music, the amplifier is effectively able to deliver that two channel power rating to whatever channels happen to ask for it...... (and it can do so whether it's three channels or five channels that are each occasionally asking for maximum power). The short answer is that, in real world use, you'll get about the same power from each channel either way. Of course, you also aren't as likely to notice the improvement between your AVR and the A-500 on the surrounds either. (Personally, I think I would use the A-500 to run all five speakers, rather than the other way around - but you could try both and see if you hear a difference.) From what I'm reading. The less channels you use the more power the amp will put out? I'm thinking of using my 500 for my front 3 channels only will it be beneficial to do this or just use all 5 channels for my home theater. Plan in using avr for surrounds.

One more question. Can this be used to Bi-amp speakers?

One more question. Can this be used to Bi-amp speakers? Yes but it won't be helpful. It won't increase the power you are getting in a real world beneficial use because all channels share the same power supply. Also make sure that your bi amp terminals are true bi amp as in the two sets of terminals are separated from each other. Otherwise you may encounter issues.

When I had my UPA-500 which is very similar, it measured 1db louder than running the speakers through my receiver. Soundwise I preferred the UPA-500. Good to point out that the UPA-500 is rated at 80wpc all channels driven and the receiver at 110wpc.

Eagles concert last night was the bomb and my surrouds were great. Plenty of clean power from this wonderful amp.

If you do you will regret it.

I regret selling my xpa-100's. I'm always looking to get those back.
