I like the Emotiva Amplifiers, however so why can't we have Distortion alert lights in the front that way we will feel a little bit more controllable you not overdriving the amplifier or speakers would it cause any deterioration on the signal or sound from the amplifier

Typically, this was at deafening levels with most speakers I used, so it offered very little functionality as I simply wouldn't need to drive my amp that hard under normal conditions. The exception was my Magnepan MG1.7s which under very strong signals, would flicker slightly when I "turned it up". Maybe they would be more useful for the less powerful amps, but why bother when power is cheap with Emotiva?

Well I use them all the time, I have the great Adcom 555, 535 and Carver 1.0t all have the distortion alert and I use them from time to time! I guess I call that cheap insurance? I have over driven my woofers and it was expensive to repair. Oh! And my speakers have 93 db sensitivity!

I had a CARVER M400t for decades. The ladder display was NOT a 'distortion indicator'. Calibrated, probably for 8 ohms, it was nearly worthless with my 4 ohm panels. With some speakers I could distort them well below lighting the whole thing up and with others? I'd go to redline and the AMP would distort, the speaker taking all the clean power the amp could manage.
You are MUCH better off using your ears. 93dbb sensitivte speakers are pretty good as such things go and shouldn't tax most amps UNLESS you simply crank it up to LOUD....no LOUDER!
Many years ago, during an upgrade cycle where I sold my 'Cube, I briefly considered a 555 and a Rotel RB-1080. That 555 was tempting but approaching the age where I'd start worrying about the big PS caps.
When I destroyed some speakers, it was the MIDRANGE that went 'South'. I bridged the midrange with a 10 ohm, 10 watt power reistor and they sounded BETTER. But were Junk to begin with.

I had the “first generation” 1.ot’s that Did not have The bridging switch which appeared later in production. Point being, the 1.ot bridged was rated at 1000 Watts rms.@8ohm. Halfway up the “ladder” was as high as I ever saw those red lights go. Bridging those puppies was insane. Bill

Check out the gen 2 and the gen 1 XPA-2 and XPA-1. They have meters on them. Here's an XPA-2 gen 1 with the meters lighting up Emotiva also made some amps with meters RPA-1 and RPA-2 The RPA-2's silver faceplate has been replaced with a black one
