Hey guys. This is the first time I'm adding another amp to my avr. I noticed that so many people in the forums own an Emotiva so I decided to check it out;. I wanted to use it to power my front towers and possibly center too. Here's what I have: Marantz SR6012 B&W 683 S2's (2) B&W HTM61 S2 B&W 686 S2's (2) SVS PB1000 (2) I was looking at the BasX 5175 and the XPA3. I saw in the specs the XPA had more power. Do you guys thinik I would definitely hear a difference between the 2? Just trying to see if it would be worth the extra cash

Welcome to the Lounge, I would go XPA-3 if budget allows, or even try and find a used XPA-5 Gen 1 or Gen 2.

The XPA series will really make your B&W speakers sing. For not a whole lot of extra cash, it's totally worth it.

I started out with an XPA 3 , the downside was that i couldnt add additional amps/channels that resulted in a useful combination. I ended up selling the XPA 3 and buying an XPA 5 and now adding XPA 6 for total of 11 for 7.1.4 Atmos. No combination would allow for a 11 channels with the XPA 3 . These amps are big and having 3 of them was just not feasible without moving them to shelf in the corner and a lot of extra wiring hassle. Get a 5 channel from the get go if you can afford it or you dont plan any expansions which knowing this hobby is highly unlikely
