See the Class D thread and my for sale ad. I was also hesitant but decided to take the plunge after reading and interacting a bit with klinemj who built his own NCores. Try listening instead of skepticism and bias, you may change your mind.

Well I did the same thing about 3 years ago - Pascal Audio S-Pro 2 in, Sherbourn PA 7-350 got sold. Beat by THAT Class D (the Hypex UCD400HG + HXR was inferior to my ears e.g.). The Sherbourn could keep up in the bass but not in treble and midrange.

Wow, you mean you actually listened for yourself instead of just avoiding an entire category of equipment based on some unknown person's criticism? Novel.

You may not like the Class D's with the Snells; might be too bright sounding of a combination. Will be curious what you think. ...or you might love it, depending on how the Class Ds you get are implemented. I got mine last Thursday and they've kicked all my Emo amps to the curb in short order. Yes, will be interested in your thoughts. Good luck and happy listening. Right. Just don't sell that heavy iron until you know for sure. 1 or 2 around here prefer their Class D's to Emo amps, so it's not unheard of (no pun intended). edit: I see some example posts above already of people preferring Class D. Cool.

Is one of us wrong ? I don’t think so.

Would anyone think running two XPA Gen3 mono amplifier modules for each Motion 40 tower(Bi-Amp configuration) would be complete overkill?? I'm getting close on deciding and was thinking of ordering a XPA Gen3 in a Seven-5-1S configuration, thoughts???

Honestly bi amping is a waste of time and money,it just doesnt deliver and fwiw it just sounds sexy. If you went with outboard active crossovers maybe then it would be worth it. Also consider this, you are sending a bunch of power to the drivers that dont really need much and if you have a sub then your sending extra power to speakers that would normally require it but are being crossed to the sub anyway . The bass is the power hog.

What your proposing is not the same as using 2 seperate amps since the modules share a power supply > I have not read the article but you asked i answered and i gave the reasons. By all means give it a try , you can always repurpose the channels. This can go on and on, blind testing vs non, biamping or not, do we need a power amp, do cable make a difference ad nauseum. For every expert that is pro something there is an expert standing by in the other camp.

Well....
I received the SDS 470c Stereo amplifier from Class D Audio last week and after running it for 150 hrs installed it into my system to run my mains. I must say I am impressed. My old ears are not great, but I hear an improvement over my previous 375w per Chanel class A/B amp. I plan on keeping th UPA-1 for the center and an H/K 4 Chanel for surrounds and rears. This amp is not the latest & greatest of class d tech, but it fit my budget and improves my 2 channel listening. I have to say I am a convert.
Now, what to do with 4 excess amps.....

Ann I was actually just thinking of sending you a pm to ask if you’d received the amp yet. VERY happy that you’re impressed by one of Tom’s amps. Cheers and Happy listening.
