I'm just waiting for one at a decent price. Let us know how that works out for ya, i think the upgrades will just increase the value and retail price. Last 2 sold on here for about $1250. I paid about that for my first one as well. There's a lot on HiFiShark that sold for that amount... Some on there for less. Also obviously some on there for more as well.

Here is one on Canuck audiomart. www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649413202-excellent-emotiva-xmc1-gen-2-72channel-av-prepro/This is first i have seen for sale in canada ,though i only go to this one site. Most people will upgrade the XMC-1 or stay with 7.1. I am going for AtMOS but i think most people are more than happy with 5 or 7.1 . If they quit changing things so much this industry could attract a lot more interest, average people just cant justify spending money in this area. Just stand outside any costco or walmart and see what people are buying.

Thanks. I'm not in a huge rush and can wait for the right seller. Probably going to avoid the hassle of foreign shipping.

The XMC-1 I purchased was from a fellow forum member for $1800, this is over 2 years ago though, so $1900 IMO is a bit much but most of the people with the HDMI 1.4 boards are going by the retail price of the XMC with the current HDMI board which is misleading IMO, but like how most used Emotiva sales seem to be going is as they get older they are somehow worth more haha, less warranty and more use but worth more...?? go figure ??

Based on my personal experience with Emotiva products, I would NOT purchase any Emotiva products without warranty.................. Their repair track record leaves something to be desired......................

Cool. Best of luck with your new purchase.... Let us know how you like the 2 channel for music after she arrives............... I already have a XMC-1 for 2 channel (a 2.2 system actually) and I enjoy it so much I am going to buy another XMC-1 for the theater for 7.2. I have the Parasound P5 that is sitting on the floor in a box. I haven't even opened it. One day I will get around to comparing the 2. Or I might just sell the P5.

Can't wait to get the Onkyo retired to storage Have you considered waiting for the new XMC-1 gen3? You can still use the existing XMC-1 for 2 channel and it won’t need to be upgraded based on your use but the new XMC-1 will have the lastest formats for your home theater.

I think if I can get a gently used XMC-1 at a good price then that 's the route I will likely go. I am not fortunate enough to have the 40% off card.

Back on April 2017 I had a Marantz SR7008 + Parasound P5 combo for about two years and I loved it. I just can't stand on Audyssey for 2 ch music so I got the P5 for 2.2 music listening only. Then last year on May I decided to get the XMC-1 and as soon I turned it ON I knew that the P5 was out of the chain for good. Sold the P5 and the Marantz SR7008 and still enjoying like day one my XMC-1. I did an A/B test with the Prasound P5 and the XMC-1 on Preset 1 and they sounded to me almost identical. Very hard to tell any difference. Then after running Dirac, music sounds even better.

As far as SQ goes there's no denying the XMC-1 is one of the best sounding I've heard but as far as reliability goes its a pig. Mine has been nothing but trouble and now after having the entire main board replaced under warranty I have to take it back again as its exhibiting the same behavior.

April 2018 has not occurred yet on Earth..................................
