I have not one but 2 xmc-1. Both were bought used. They sound great even without Dirac engaged however I'm planning on finally setting up Dirac on both.
Can you guys give me some tips and pointers? Do I need to spend $100 on each for the full license? Where to buy? Tips on setup? Anything else?

Get a Umike and learn about calibration files. Also, run Dirac, then leave it alone for a while and listen. Save that file. Rerun Dirac again after a week or 2 and listen. See which you like better. Rinse and repeat. Remember to save the Dirac files each time and name them meaningfully. You may find you need to boost up your sub a wee bit.

I have almost 10-15 db of boost below about 50hz, I swear I'm not a bass head....promise! Also, I'd make the recommendation that only let Dirac changes below 500hz or lower, depending on the size of your room.

Can you run Multiple Points with DIRAC and let it 'average' out for maybe better response across a wider listening area?
Correcting for a single point would seem to me that it would make Other points worse?

That's a very good question about the Dirac license for each XMC-1. I'm 99% sure that you have to buy to Dirac Live Full licenses but I would call Emotiva and ask before placing the two orders.

Correcting for a single point would seem to me that it would make Other points worse? Typically, Dirac requires 9 measurement points. The microphone placement pattern can be narrow or wide depending on your goals. However, there can only be one "best" sounding position. Correcting for a single main listening position with Dirac is no different than setting up speakers and acoustic treatments to sound their best at the main listening position. Whether Dirac is used to provide the best sound at one main listening position or to provide a more even, average sound across a wider area is up to you.

If I recall, there isn’t an authentication between the Dirac software and the XMC-1 outside of finding the unit within the network.
So I’d try getting one license first. You should have the mic.

I also prefer my 2 channel sans dirac, and I have recalibrated it many times over the last 4 years, as well I have a 6db shelf built in to the filter for increased bass.

I have one xmc-1 in a music 2.2 channel area. I have the second xmc-1 in a theater 7.2 channel area.

Can I use the previous guy's regular Dirac that's on the xmc-1? Just rerun the setup?

What does the umik offer over the Emotiva mic? Would like to know as I may buy one. I found the easy use of a bery high caliber mic with calibration files specifically recorded for this mic more accurate and with less hiccups. YMMV The specific files are an extra charge but I found it to be a value. The mic from Emotiva will do but I found the UMIK mic to be superior in construction.
