Protean sh** id love to have a pair of legacy whispers but is what you can afford That's "protean force", newbie. As long as you are satisfied with how your speakers sound, you should be good and, no need to badmouth other brands. How much more speakers I own and or I can afford has nothing to do with which ones I enjoy. I am satisfied a lot with my setup. Glad you love yours too. The price of the speakers does not factor in the degree of music and sound enjoyment or in level of satisfaction. Cheers

Let me interject. I've had Xls 215 for the year and sold them because I missed detail and well-controlled bass. I do think, however, that they have a lot of resonances, they give huge pressure and disco fun, but they lack precision and bass and detail in high tones. But they can create a great stage and dynamics. For rock, techno is ok. It's a pity they did not improve the tweeter driver. Everything is a matter of taste and preferences. Klipsch is not perfect either. It's not worth pricking, let's enjoy music

theses speakers need 500 600 watts of power and you need to change the fuse in the speakers to 200 amp to get there full performance CV calls them over 95db 1watt / 1 meter 'sensitive'. This is a pretty high value and indicates the speaker is pretty good at turning electricity into sound. I'd be very surprised if you 'needed' the power you quote. Or even USE that much. 50 a side continuous with 500 watt peaks? That's over 110db with 10db peaks on top of THAT. Might even be louder, counting 2 speakers AND room gain. Should be loud enough to get you evicted from your STATE, not just house or town. Will the speakers TAKE such power? And if so, for How Long? And YES, you can indeed destroy speakers with too much power. As drivers heat (and get HOT, they DO) the electrical characteristics change and not for the better. By 'too little' power, you are talkng about distortion products from clipping. Open your ears and than won't be much of a problem. It's amazing how much wrong stuff people accumulate in 40 years and not find the right information.

i have pushed the hell out of XLS215 speakers From cerwin vega ,1 xpa 1 for each speaker ,i had to put the amps on separate outlets because it was blowing the breaker, trust me these speakers hold up with the full amount of power from the xpa 1 amps

Either the mid or tweeter would be my first guess. You might consider a dedicated 20 amp circuit for JUST the pair of amps. Continuous service 15amp service is NOT 1800 watts (120 x 15) but rather DERATED 20% which works out to 1440 watts for long time period. A 20amp circuit is 2400 watts, which is 2160 continuous. I wish I was there to take a few readings. SPL? Current Draw? Line voltage 'sag'? Voice Coil Temp? Don't forget that 96db sensitive speakers are ONLY about 2.5% 'efficient' which means that for 50 watts continuous, over 48 of 'em go to HEAT. I might add that for an A/B amp, efficiency hovers in the 50% range so to GET that 50 watts TO the speaker will require maybe 100 watts. Lots of heat for such a small amount of power actually producing sound.

It won’t matter, in 2 years his hearing will be so shot he won’t be able to tell his tweeters are blown. But he’ll go out in a blaze of glory! I love his enthusiasm, just wish he’ll be able to hear when he turns 30.

Years and YEARS ago, when I was an irresponsible slacker, I moved into a new (to me) apartment building. In those days? I liked my music pretty loud, certainly louder than the NEIGHBORS would appreciate.
So? I ran a scam. Pretended to be partly DEAF which accounted for the loud music. Never abused the 'act' like playing late at night. Or TOO early. It worked. Not that I'd EVER recommend doing something like that to YOUR neighbors.

And In some ways it was quite impressive......A pair of Carver 1.ot’s internally bridged. Into mono delivered 1000 Watts @ 8ohm. .....A guaranteed Death 💀 sentence for the speakers without a high level of discretion and indeed, I was unable to utilize half of that without sending the drivers on a one way trip. Ignorance is bliss, so they say, and after some period of time and with the correct advice, I got myself straightened out......like therapy! Bill
