Isn't Dirac Live associated with a particular XMC-1? So if I buy a used one, and want to purchase a licence in my own name, how do I activate the new copy?

Dirac is associated with the buyer of the xmc. When you purchased the used xmc the Dirac license stayed with Fatty. You can go onto the emo website, make your purchase. They will email you a “key” and you make your account at Dirac.

I just picked up a used XMC-1 from a Lounge member about a month ago and haven't gotten around to playing with Dirac. It was advertised as not having used Dirac. Are you saying that it still stays with the original buyer, even if they didn't use it?

If the previous owner never activated the license, you will be able to freely do so. Hope this helps...

Especially if your purchase was based on this information.

I believe it has more features available that the free LE version that is licensed to the original owner too. I was using a DBX for room correction for my front mains and finally broke down and mic'd my room with Dirac for all channels (disconnected DBX). My first impression is that I think the level adjustment feature is great and the calculated correction filters look amazingly close to the target (which is a house curve, not perfectly flat, though you can adjust it.) Overall, I think the bass is a little anemic compared to the DBX, which I previously used as a crossover and EQ, but a few DB up on the trim and it was good. LFE was the same way during a movie.

How do I activate the version that comes with the XMC? I have the Dirac User manual but I'm not seeing where the 'single user licensce' is located. I'm guessing I have to have a code to download it?

My response was for Jamie. I know for a fact the guy who sold him his xmc activated both le and full Dirac on the machine in question. And to be totally honest, the license is basically just a permission key to sign into Dirac servers. If previous owners wanted to pass along their usernames and passwords to the new owners. Dirac would still work just fine when installed on the new pc machine. And I agree Dirac always seemed pretty anemic on the bass for me as well, even with my half dozen subwoofer setup. Try doing some sweeps with rew to see what Dirac is actually doing, you’d be surprised. I’d like to get another Dirac implementation in my room for a side by side with my current Anthem.

I understand that, though I believe you can only get 2 installation licenses with the purchase of Dirac Live Full. Though, It would have been nice if the seller whom I bought mine from had provided me with his credentials for Dirac LE. Oh well, $99 later, I have the full version. Also, I didn't realize that this was a private conversation tha I invaded.

I meant it as my response “applied “ to his situation and my not be well suited for you. Apologies bud. However you can reset your installation count. I had to redo mine a few times due to repeated OS reinstalls.

Let me explain the situation...... When the original owner purchased their XMC-1 they received a license to Dirac Live LE (the "free" version). The original owner also has the option of purchasing an upgrade to Dirac Live Full (for $100). Anyone who purchases a used XMC-1 also has the option of purchasing a license to Dirac Live Full to use with their XMC-1. (So, officially, anyone who purchases a used XMC-1 and wants Dirac Live is required to purchase their own full copy.) BOTH OF THESE LICENSES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER AND ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE.The Dirac Live license is tied to the owner's UserName and Password - which they set up using the Activation Code we provide when they "register the account". The software is not licensed to a specific XMC-1 unit... and a single licensed copy of Dirac Live may even be used with multiple XMC-1 units. As such, if the original owner were to give you their UserName and Password... Or, if the original owner never registered Dirac Live, and gives you their Activation Code... We would have no way to know who is using it. HOWEVER, if you call us, tell us you've just purchased a used XMC-1, and request your own activation code, or request to have the Dirac license count reset, we will be forced to refuse. By our license agreement with Dirac, we are only allowed to give a license to Dirac Live LE to the original purchaser of an XMC-1, and a license to Dirac Live Full to someone who purchases it. (And we can only re-send the original Activation Code to the original purchaser, or reset the license FOR the original purchaser, at their original e-mail address.) For those who have a valid Activation key, or a valid account, but have a very old link, the current activation and download page link is here: emotiva.com/pages/xmc-1-dirac-live-downloadHe can call Emotiva and get a new link and password. or try clling Emotiva for the link, not sure if his old code will work though, he may still need to do it for you. Let us know what happens. Thanks. I sent all the info to Emotiva and asked for a new link. I would rather not bother the original owner one more time if I don't have to.
