Hello all, great to be part of the emotiva family! I have an XPA-11 Gen3 amplifier being built for me now and will ship at the next 5 days. I was wondering if anyone knows if I need to put this new amp through some break-in paces. Continuously playing for X number of hours? Certain type of CD break in music I need to play? I'm going to be using my Marantz sr7009 as a preamp. And the amp is going to be driving my Suite of Martin Logan speakers.

Check the processor, it might have a setting for all channels stereo, you might want to try it. ...

They do a burn-in procedure for all the XPA G3 amplifiers before sending them out, not sure how long but I remember it being lengthy so as to test everything while stressing it to a certain degree. I'm sure KeithL could expand on this, as I don't remember all the details. Anyhow I don't believe you need to perform any break-in procedure yourself.

I on my 3rd Emo amp and have not had to break anything in. I will say that they sound sweet once up to temp, i usually watch a few movie previews before the actual movie so me and all the equipment are warmed up and settle in .

I have a 1 year break-in process for these amps which I perform in my theater. Go ahead and have the amp shipped to me and I'll ship it to you 2019 April once it's ready.

Welcome to the forums here. And congratulations on your new XPA-11. Unlike speakers, there is no real break in period for your amplifier or most of any amplifier per se. Just set up per best practices. Get some great movies, music and some popcorn and enjoy. The kind folks at Emotiva have already done all the Quality Assurance for you so you may enjoy your XPA-11 for many years to come. Please come back here often, and let us know if we can help, and also share with us your movie and music experiences.

The amp shouldn't need a burn in period as others have stated above.I would suggest to ensure no shipping damage internally to run it for just a few minutes without anything attached. Then shut it completely down, unplug it and wire up all the connections, then enjoy !!

IMO, the ONLY thing which needs 'break in' are the capacitors. Large electrolytic types need to 'form'. this is a fairly quick process taking hours, not weeks or months.
My Panel speakers were weird for the first 4 or 5 hours. Random cut-outs and image shifts. Sometimes so quickly you'd wonder IF you heard what you think you did! But that went away and has NEVER recurred.
I don't think semiconductors need break in, but they DO wear out from various physical causes. In a normal circuit such wear-out takes QUITE a long time. and not to worry.

March 29th posting? Betcha it’s broken in by now! Imagine for a moment an amplifier would be shipped with a “break in play” hit list!?

1) Set it up. Connect inputs and speaker wires. 2) Turn it on. Run whatever room correction or level setting routines you wish. 3) Play content. 4) Enjoy
