I was curious if there was high demand for an item like this. I’ve seen audio extractors that have the 4k Atmos HDMI signal pass through while extracting either a analog stereo signal or digital 5.1/7.1 signal but I can’t seem to find one that pulls just the height channels so that you could pair it with an old 7.1 pre/pro while upgrading the room to add heights. I want a dedicated room with an RMC-1 but in my great room it would be a perfect addition to add just two height channels. I can’t justify upgrading the pre/pro just for heights when I know I’ll be having my dedicated room for the RMC-1. www.comprehensiveco.com/hdmi-18gbps-audio-extractor-with-hdcp-2-2.htmlThere are a couple companies that make the same item but I’d see a high demand for an Emotiva type of construction with a nice DAC.

Just realized volume control would probably make it impossible unless there’s a way to sync it which I doubt

This is EXTREMELY unlikely to ever happen. Dolby Atmos, and other surround sound formats, are encoded. That means that all the channels are combined into a single signal. In order to extract the height channels, you need to decode that signal. And the decoder requires a significant amount of processing power... and there are licensing fees associated with it. It just isn't practical. I was curious if there was high demand for an item like this. Thanks for taking the time Keith. I’m excited to get a room dedicated with your RMC-1. Have a good weekend and Easter.
