The source is an OPPO BDP-103 Universal Disc Player using HDMI. I have to power cycle the OPPO and the Emotiva MC-700 several times before the sound eventually comes through.
I have the latest firmware 2.9.2 installed.
Although annoying, it eventually works. Any ideas or input?

Have you tried a HDMI cable swap?
Cheers Gary

Are your cables 4k certified, even if you don't have 4k source? If not, to Gary's point, that will make a big difference.
The MC is on the same platform as the UMC's, and they preferred to be turned on first, before the other devices get turned on. I have to do that with my MC and that's with 4k certified cables. Just a workaround that I live with.

I've swapped out cables, but I did not think to consider rbk123's point of 4K certified. I'll try that this weekend. Thank you for the tip.

Just swapped out a 25' bargain HDMI cable for a 4K certified and my erratic operation has ceased with my MC700. The HDMI connection is to my PC for a music library. I had just upgraded the PC from a 8 year old unit and the connection got real hit and miss with the new PC. The new HDMI certified cable cleared up all connection issues.

Good. That's happened to almost all of us MC owners so you have plenty of company.

Hello. I'm a new MC700/A500 owner and although I'm very happy with the sound performance of these pieces with my 5.2 Martin Logan speaker setup (4 LX16 bookshelves, Motion 30 center and 2 ML Dynamo 300 subs), I get no sound when switching inputs. Have to power MC700 off/on to get it back. Hopefully, changing out HDMI cables will solve this. I just ordered 5 Emotiva 1 meter X HDMI cables (1/2 price sale). There are no specs on these cables and the X HDMI is a bit more expensive than their other cable, the ZHDMI. Has anyone tried the X HDMI cables and found that using these cables has eliminated the no sound at switching issue? Thanks.

I’ve used both types of Emotiva cables in different setups and I’ve nevr had a problem with them. High quality IMHO. Although Ive never tried the X HDMI with a 4 K signal.

Hmmm. I found some specs on Amazon.com for the Emotiva X HDMI cables. Here they are: Fully certified for HDMI category 2 (up to 10.2 Gbps / 1080p @ 120 Hz) Four isolated coaxial lines for controlled impedance and optimum signal transmission Braided polyester anti-scuff jacket Unique flat design ensures a rock solid picture and minimizes EMI interference Full five-year warranty.
Wow, I ordered 5 of these (will be here in 3 days) from Emotiva and if the specs are correct on Amazon, I may have to send them back. Please Emotiva, include specs on the product page for your HDMI cables!
Anyway, if these don't work out (and I don't expect them to), can anyone with an MC-700 that switches through different hdmi sources without a problem, please let me know what kind of cables they are using? Brand, size and vendor? I may try the best 4k spec hdmi cable on Monoprice to see if that helps.
Thank you.

You can laugh but these are the cables I use with zero issues switching between sources. I had the blue jeans cables before and they worked fine but they were bulky and not very flexible.
