Hi. I have an upgrade question.
I currently have the Emotiva 8.3s for fronts and center. Would an upgrade to the new T2s make a big difference?
Used in a 5.1 config for HT for movies and music.
Also going to pull the trigger on the XMC-1 once new 4K boards are available. Currently on a UMC-1.
Thanks Steve

I owned the 8.3's prior to my T2's and, yes, I think it's worth an upgrade. Without getting into all of the colorful language, I find the T2 to possess an extended and more detailed high end without venturing into the realm of sounding "bright" or "harsh". Midrange is open and a bit more defined without sounding awkwardly "forward". The bass digs a bit deeper and is more detailed (especially in the mid-bass region). The 8.3 is a really good speaker, but the T2 undoubtedly takes it up a notch. Keep in mind that these are rear-ported. So, you'll need some air between the back of the enclosure and the wall for optimal performance. For music, especially, I think you'll find these better than the 8.3. As a thought, if you already own a subwoofer with good midbass response (and aren't a 2 channel purist), the T1 is also a very favorable option. For HT, I would also highly recommend considering the C2 as a center channel (even if you opt for the T1 as mains) to keep the front staging matched and well integrated. Good luck with whatever you decide to do...

Was thinking the same thing about the T1 doc. And it seems to me that the potential upgrade would be with that tweeter, which is happening. I am not familiar with your speakers, but the T series is much better than my Emotiva speakers, which came after yours. Corey did quite a job on those! I think the tweeter is high class.

Biggest changes, in order, that should make the T2 better, IMO. 1. AMT tweet 2. Improved tech in both cabinet and drivers 3. The T2 digs down another 10 Hz deeper 4. increased sensitivity Scott

I too, went from 8.3s (which I really liked) to the T2s. A definite improvement mostly at the extremes. The AMT tweeter makes the top end more clear and detailes and the bottom end is as tight as the 8.3s while going deeper. I'm very happy I went with them. Oh, and like Doc, I highly recommend the C2 for a center and also the E2 surrounds.
